  1. Yeah but the broken up pieces of TWFTs (The wild frothing trolls)become reanimated as even smaller trolls that will run up the leg of your pants and bite your you know "whats" with their rotten yellow teeth (RYTs). LEWIS PS "woofwoofwoof" thats my other dog impression
  2. I agree that these 'shells' had small amounts of HE but were designed to go off in the confines of the tank (after penetrating). If the hatches were locked it would be devasting. If used against troops in the open, they would more than likely bury themselves before exploding and would have a minimal effect. Also it should be known that DU rounds have a pyrophagic (SP?) effect, meaning they actually start to flake off burning particles once they penetrate. DU is nasty stuff and should be outlawed. I understand that it can only be fired at a limited number of ranges and leaves toxic materials all over. Lewis
  3. Mr Zulu I agree with your post somewhat but you havent seen the the manual for CM so why go on your 'this sucks that sucks' tangeant? The initial post was how the games compare. If anything you can compare the demos really. Unless you have access to the playtesting of CM. I believe that Wings is going to improve PE now that they have the bugs out. You are a bit cloudy with your game save reference. People have said they want to be able to jump to another tank ( I guess if the commander is alive) but they also want to be able to save the game so that they can stop at a point and pick it up later. So its apples and oranges and sour grapes it seems. But this board should be about CM shouldn't it? Pissy sniping should be used for Talonsoft and Close Combat. Lewis
  4. Could the Bear go 'Berserk'? Could a rabid rabbit be a fanatic? Dannel Boon kil a bear 2. This board has a meandering quality to it. Can I just start discussing wild frothing trolls at any moment? Speaking of deranged behaviour, There is a little known psychosis called PGRS. Pre-Game Release Syndrome. One of the tell tale signs is the inability to stick to a topic of conversation and having hissy fits and pissing contests. Lewis
  5. Well..it is another tank sim, BUT it is the best and has the most potential of ALL tank sims. You are really locked in the tank in PE and cant really control the other platoons. In CM you are giving personal orders to all units, tanks, etc under your command. Lewis
  6. They called them screaming eagles didnt they? Yelling like this in combat could work both ways. Against green or younger troops, the tactic could be very effective as a trigger to make people take off like rabbits. Against trained troops like marines, the japanese were gunned down because they gave themselves away. Marines would just turn in the direction of the yelling and target the area. In Burgetts book 7 roads to hell, it seemed the airborne guys considered closing with the enemy the only way to fight. And from the sounds of it, it was pretty intense. Lewis
  7. I would like to add a couple of things to this topic. Fanaticism represents an idealisticly ingrained state of mind. Religious or political or whatever ideas rule over "normal" human thoughts like self preservation during battle conditions. I would suggest that SS, Japanese, Perhaps Russian Guards are good examples. The awareness of the dangers are very much known but are outweighed by the sense of duty/obligation whatever to an idea or person. Berserk men or units are more in the family of "deranged" behaviour. The presence of danger or loss of close comrades or sense of helplessness causes men to fly into the face of the enemy. It is a sort of "breaking" in reverse..instead of running away with total abandon.. you run at the enemy with a similar sense of abandon. Alot of the US airborne seem to behave this way during close combat assaults. Sort of like wild indians or civil war southeners. The major difference is the lasting effects of fanatics and the recovery of berserk units. Fanatics I guess can go berserk LOL. As far as the game goes.. fanatics should be faster recovering from suppression, morale effects, loss of men should have less effect. I guess above elite units. maybe go berserk easier. Berserks would charge enemy and disregard losses till they destroyed something. Its funny how people confuse bravery with fanatisim and mental disorders. Just controlling your fear and functioning takes alot during battle. Lewis
  8. 86 to 14 I lost first stug almost immediately. I then knocked out 4 shermans by hugging the hills. I knocked out last sherman as he took out another stug at close range. Pretty wild to watch. After that it was just advance the volks and smgs covered by MGs. All those Panzershrecks and no shermans to shoot at. Absolutely the best game and can't wait for the product. By the way I am Lewis_PE#1 from wings board.
  9. Best Bulge book is "seven roads to hell" Its the story of 101 screaming eagles at Bastogne. Author fought at Noville and actually had a panzer track on top of his foxhole. he also said that a King Tiger chased him and that he must have killed dozens during these battles. Only the airborne would stand up to the cold miserable hell described in this book.
  10. I think I was kicked off the TS board about three times. You could sense the uptight frustration and arrogance. Charlie Kibler is a no talent and a dinosaur. I actually proposed a platoon level game to them that is almost CM on the platoon scale. First time I played CM, I couldnt believe it. This is literally what I wanted. I think the fog of war should "black out" territory and angles not viewable by "good order" units. I would like to see a commanders view where you can use binoculars to view from the HQs position. Anyway, may TS curl up and die.. long live CM.
