    Yes steel panthers is hexbased they can be toggled off tho I do believe smile.gif

    The first one is an excellent game for its time and I played it alot - but didnt cre for the later editions.

    SPWOW looks alot more along the lines of the first one with a major overhaul smile.gif

    I will download it and check it out eek.gif

    BTW its probably similar in scale to Close COMBAT maybe a bit larger :P

    I Love to attack in CM; something that came more naturally to me than in CC2 smile.gif I have found that unit survivalbility in CM is more a relative thing, as some rounds of HE are MUCH better placed than others - Alot of times I find that Targetting the wooden building RATHER than the UNIT themselves is less time consuming than actually trying to route the unit with direct fire.

    The point being is that with direct fire, the tanks will often overide your targeting for a more favorable target - leaving that same unit to continue being a problem. I've seen this happen frequently with direct fire

    - Unless You are shooting a stone building or infantry with a hi %kill ratio I highly reccommend using indirect and take out the building. This must be done carefully tho or you will run out of HE fast smile.gif

    And I see what you are talking about and that particualr set up appears to probably work although I'm not entirely sure taht is what Capt Foobar meant as he mentione this

    This may have NO tie in to the auto-surrender feature, but I was trying to think of any possible situation where "weenie stuff" would e historically accurate.

    actually now I think about it that should be able to be accomplished by giving fanatic troops smile.gif in the situation Elvis describes

    Elvis if this is in fact the case why did you suggest they all be at one end?

    FooFoo- Maybe this would work with a delaying action: LONG map (instead of wide map or square map) with VL all at one end and units set up areas spread out far enough from each other so that it would be impractical to have them meet up somewhere on the map to create a larger force. Global morale would only become a factor once the enemy has gotten DEEP into the area you are protecting or if you do something very silly like try to have them meet up somewhere and they take a pounding doing so.

    That kinda doesnt support what ya just said eek.gif

    I wondered on that myself - why doesn't everybody move, as ordered at the start of the game? I understand later it takes units time to react, but at the start I would think they would go right away. Maybe this is symbloic of the disorganization of the forces tongue.gif

    I agree with Elvis here- If the map is large and the VLS are at the far end it most likely will be easier to play a delaying action type scenario, that is providing VLs have an effect on GLobal morale

    If the VLs do NOT have a major impact on the stability of Morale then I would see it as difficult to play this type of scenario.

    Point in case if I have several small bands of men against a MUCH larger force, if the VLS do not stablalize morale then no matter what I do (except inflict Tremendous casualties), as soon as I start losing my units GM is gonna sink .

    PenG I was simply stating my case for what I believed in. I wasn't crrying nor whining about anything _ and fended of several PERSONAL ATTACKS during that thread WITHOUT t retaliating in kind - which believe me I"M VERY capable of doing. Obviously I CAN TAKE whatever is dished out unlike some before me - so you addition here wont phase me in the least.

    I have played against you and have never done ANYTHING to offend you and lost our first game graciously and we are currently in the middle of another. I have waitied patiently for you to return files and you hav done likewise. If you feel it necessary to jump on the bandwagon led by somebody else over something that had NOTHING to do with you, so be it, that is entirely up to you as shallow as it may be.

    We hav discussed numerous things at length and I considered us to be friends of sorts but I slept before I knew ya and I'm sure I won't lose any sleep over this

    LEt's get this straight nothing was "BEAT" into my head

    I simple quit stating my case because I don't want to piss Steve off. Since I have the utmost respect for BTS and what they have done I decided to let it go and adapt rather than get on someones bad side, something which you couldn't possibly fathom.

    I unlike you don't derive some sadistic little joy out of trying to get under peoples skin
