  2. I'll keep this one short Event ID 4097 seems to be a generic error message when a program does something the OS doesnt like. Most likely, you have a program that is resident in memory, that CM wants to write to, or some strange driver conflict. Wish I could be of more help. I would suggest unloading all programs before running CM (make sure the system tray is empty, too), and see if that helps.
  3. If you look at the event in the event viewer, there will be an event ID associated with that. If you get me the entire Event ID and description, I can look it up in Microsoft Technet for you, and see if we can figure it out. Either post it here, or email it to me, I'll be glad to give whatever help I can.
  4. Sounds like the monitor you have installed is the wrong one. Click the monitor button, and make sure you have either the correct one installed, or make sure you have the Super VGA 1024x768 monitor installed, and your slider should come back. Let me know how this works!
  5. Voodoo cards latest drivers (for all Voodoo based chipsets) can be had at: www.3dfxgamers.com They usually have the latest Beta versions there, too, if you want to be that cutting edge Jim, this sounds to me like CM is trying to render with your primary graphics card, and not the Voodoo 2 card. Go to Gateway and get the latest drivers for the OEM AGP video card. Be careful getting the drivers from the card manufacturer, however, as some OEM card (ones that ship with Gateways/Dells etc) have different driver sets that can only be gotten from the PC manufacturers website. 6. Bad news. NT 4.0, SP 6.0a (the latest SP) only has DirectX 3.0 - Microsoft has no plans to add DX 6.0+ to NT, as its a business platform, and not a home use/gaming platform. They say the same about Windows 2000, but it ships with DX 7.0. Basically you have two choices - install a copy of Win98 on your machine (set it up for dual boot), or upgrade to W2000. I personally run W2000, have for better part of 8 months now, and I love it.
  7. Glad I could help! Enjoy the Gold Demo, I know I am! ps - Fionn - I *love* the new .sig
  8. This looks like a Logitech Mouse driver problem. Here is some information from my Microsoft Technet: SYMPTOMS ======== The fourth and fifth mouse buttons may not be recognized by Windows. This applies to the typical mouse, as well as to integral mouse hardware on some laptop computers. CAUSE ===== The mouse drivers included with Windows 98 and Windows 98 Second Edition do not support the 5-button mouse. RESOLUTION ========== A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. To resolve this problem, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the fix. For a complete list of Microsoft Product Support Services phone numbers and information on support costs, please go to the following address on the World Wide Web: http://www.microsoft.com/support/supportnet/overview/overview.asp Date Time Version Size File name --------------------------------------------------- 02/25/2000 06:08pm 4.10.2223 10,123 Mouhid.vxd 06/14/1999 05:35pm 4.10.2223 15,833 Msmouse.vxd 06/14/1999 05:37pm 4.10.2223 33,356 Vmouse.vxd It sounds to me like either your software needs to be updated, your mouse is going bad, or a Direct Input issue with DirectX. I would reload your mouse drivers first, and if that doesnt help, reload DirectX 6 or 7. But the multiple errors in LMOUSE.vxd and VMOUSE.vxd definately indicate a mouse input problem. Good luck!
  9. I'll second the 'our' brave troops, meaning all Allies, and anyone else involved - UK, US, France, et. al. Without EVERYONES sacrafices, the world would be a much different place now. Thanks to everyone involved. hey! I hit 'member' status! WOOOOOOT! [This message has been edited by slazzari (edited 05-09-2000).]
  10. Thanks for the update Bill! I, for one, am really looking forward to this, just wish you could have gotten it out BEFORE the weekend! Thanks for the effort, cant wait to get my hands on it... 11. (slightly out of the thread topic )Mannheim Tanker - Just out of curiosity, were you in Mannheim, Germany, in the early 90's? If so, email me, I was there from 90-92 Scott
  12. Here is a quick suggestion on scenarios, and 'ratings' - I have been investigating purchasing ASL for the last few weeks (lets not go there ), and one thing I stumbled across I thought would mesh in really nicely with CM - There was a website that tracked the winners (Allies or Axis) for scenarios. After the sampling got large enough (30-50 games reported), you could see a trend develop on which side in the battle had the advantage. The most 'balanced' scenarios were roughly 50-50 allies/axis in the W column, etc. I think this would be a great thing to track for CM, also. Thoughts?
  13. Having been there and done that (Just not for _nearly_ as long as the Col.), I just have one thing to say. Amen.
  14. Has anyone heard about the availability of drivers for the Voodoo 4/5 under Win2k? I am extremely dissapointed in 3dfx's Win2k support for my Voodoo 3 3000 right now (no support, and one release of unsupported beta drivers...), and unless they come out and say they are supporting Win2k fully with these new cards, I will not purchase one. I like the capabilites, and the reported performance, but I need my Win2k support!
  15. Here is a link to a diagram of an ASU-57 http://www.cs.net/panzer/panzergruppe/jul94/asu57-p1.htm#asu57_draw I believe this is from a modeling site, but it should do Scott L.
  16. I was stationed in Germany from 1990-92, and al of the M1A1's in the armor battalions were painted tan, then shipped to the desert. They remained tan right up until I left, and then who knows how much longer after that. As to what unit/location these belong to, we wil nexer know, as the unit markings on the bumpers have been airbrused out of the photos.
  17. My guard unit (two years ago, admittedly), was slated to get the M40's this year. We had some demo units in, and those things were huge and heavy - thank god I never had to carry one (I had the m17 while on active duty). If you look carefully at the photo, the unit markings on the tanks have purposefully been edited out, so who knows what unit this is. Wherever this came from, thats one hell of a good photo! <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>"Well, his first mistake is that he's in a Bradley and isn't a real tanker ."<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Heh, thats funny. Tankers and Cavalry have this rivalry thing going....
  18. Cat eyes are small glow in the dark strips on the back of the camo band the Army wears around thier kevlar helmets, so troops behind them dont get lost in the dark while they are on patrol. You can only see them to about 10 meters, so the enemy spotting you isn't a problem. Most tankers dont bother with thier nomex while on maneuvers - it gets way too hot. I used to catch all kinds of hell for not wearing it in the Bradley. Its doubtful these are guard toops -Miles gear takes a full day to issue, put on, and boresight - too long for a weekend drill, and most guard units do livefire during thier 2 week rotation - but who knows. The protective mask that one guy is wearing is an M40 - most guard units havent gotten those yet, however. I wish there were a website to go along with this, for more info. Regardless, its a great picture!
  19. That is an M1A1 Main Battle tank - you can tell by the 120mm main gun (notice the enlarged size of the bore evacuator). It indeed does have the Miles gear on - notice the hoffman device attatched to the barrel of the rear tank, and the yellow 'kill light' on the left (right actually) side of the turret - also, the GI with the gasmask has his miles harness on. Army training grounds all tend to look the same - but more than likely this is in Hoenfels, Germany, due to the vegitation (NTC tends to be alot more barren). If you notice the 'bottom' tank - it has its turret over the rear deck, but the tank on top does not. This indicates the bottom tank was already killed. More than likely, the top tank was reacting to whatever killed the bottom tank, and backed right up and over it in the heat of the battle. Can you tell I spent 8 years in the US Army? For the record, I was Cavalry, and had nothing to do with those 'slobs' known as tankers...
  20. Hehe. Thats a *great* picture of some CDAT's! Somebody was going WAY to fast downrange Some PVT is going to have one hell of a huge repair bill come out of his paycheck! For the record, the M1A1 is an automatic
  21. I for one will not play any ladder games, at least not for a while. I want to play the game for the fun of it, and not for the prestige. Thats just me, though, not too competitive
  22. Los - That brings up a question about TRP's. Do you get a 'speed' bonus for firing at a TRP, as the location is already registered into the gun? Thanks! Scott (edited for spelling ) [This message has been edited by slazzari (edited 03-03-2000).] (edited again, as I found most of the answers in a long search ) [This message has been edited by slazzari (edited 03-03-2000).]
  23. Sgt Mourge: You are right, they redesignated tankers and cavalry to the 19 series in the early 80's (late 70's, maybe?) My dad was a 11d (Cavalry Scout) in Vietnam, I was a 19d (Cavalry Scout) in the 90's. Interesting note: I didnt know my dad was Cav until I got out Also, I was stationed with 3/7 Cav in Mannheim, Germany from 90-92 (I was in 8th ID(M) / 1st AD, they were right down the street from me), and they were all Squadron/Troop, not Battalion/Company designation back then. Who knows now, though
