1. By the way from a very close distance ATR were able to penetrate early PzIV from the front. (Armour was 50mm and ATR were able to penetrate 50mm under 100 meters)
2. Wait a sec here. Front line was pretty much the same in summer 1944 as in summer 1941. So it took germans 1.5 years to occupy most territory. (Until Jan 1943) Then 6 months was pretty much stable. (Until summer 1943) Then from summer 1943 to summer 1944 thats only a year. So you couls say that it took Soviets 1 year to retake all that germans managed to occupy in 1.5
3. Nope. You can adjust price based on "pool" of units. That will produce smaller price increases for common units. Besides no one asks you to purchase common units - people don't buy common units 99% of the time. I bet there were more JagTigers killed in CMBO then were ever produced. If everyone will go for common units you could purchase rare super tanks cheaply.
4. I think supply and demand is the best solution to gamey SMG units, Pupchens (as well as those quad 37mm vehicles) If everyone starts buying SMGs they would go up in price. Otherwise they would drop in price if no one wants them. No more 100 SMGs platoons. No more 20 pupchens. This is something that BTS could do for online games. Units prices could be obtained from BTS server every time. Unit selections could go back to BTS server to "adjust prices" in the future. In fact I will add it to my online multiplayer campaign. (If BTS ever provides API for it)
5. Galicia is also Austrian name for South east Poland. Including Cracow (southern Poland), Slovenia and Lvov (Now west ukraine). Polish 1st army had at least ISU 152s and ISU-122s. (and T-34s of all kinds) Seen pictures on that russian site (www.vif2.ru ?) Ukrainian formations (UPA?) fought together with remnants of Polish AK against Soviets in the south-east corner of Poland until 1947. At that time they were exterminated. Population of that area dropped 10 fold in 1947! Polish army was patroling Lvov at night in 1930s. There was lots of "separatist" activity. (Heard that in Poland from people who lived there in 1938)
6. I read once a soviet book that stated that digged in Maus was protecting a Nazi building in Berlin. The author was not sure whether this was a complete tank or just a turret. Author also described soviet problem in taking it out. Basically nothing worked and finally it runned out of ammo. In fact author mentioned 2 Maus in the Berlin itself. These were not working/completed tanks, just a firing turret. I have no idea whether this report was true. It was in the "Tiger" series of books in Poland/Soviet Union.
7. It was QB so I did not select KT myself. I won anyway but since when Finns joined the British army? By the way I still think it is a bug. BTS I have the turn saved but you will probably not be able to reproduced this situation
8. Stop complaining guys! I am stuck at well paid position but I am programming Novell NetWare! NETWARE! - Please microsoft kill it! BillG where are you when I need u! And besides that taxes are too high
9. Now do you think that this Churchill should have knocked out my King Tiger? On the picture you can see that burning Churchill when it fires its gun. It is killing my KT!
10. Well - thanks for discussing it at least... I am a bit suprised that it is hard to do but I understand - adding a feature that was never planned is sometimes very hard/time consuming... I know it from my own experience...
11. Just gimme interface to create missions and extract results after the game. I can do the rest. I have done it already for CC3. See: MMCC3 main page Sure it is not WWII simulation but changing front line is fun and people are playing it everyday. (With close combat 3)
12. I have been asking for such API for a very long time. (like a year) And by the way I made a campaign for Close Combat 3. Yes - it works and there are people playing it. [ February 12, 2002, 04:24 PM: Message edited by: killmore ]
13. Most of the theoretical discussion here is pointless. Get Fully auto paintball gun. Their ROF is about 5/sec. Make a twin/quad to simulate WWII MG. Get people to run at you and graze them. If I am not suppressed I can take out 3 of them while they run toward me (with semi-auto). If I had Auto and grazed them I would take out more. Just do it.
14. My hope is that "Human waves" will not be the only way to play soviets. From what I have seen BTS has respect to Soviet WWII army so I believe they will do a good job. It will not be like Nazi version of the history: "SubHuman hordes attack with 10:1 force advantage. They have no fear because these animals are incapable of it"
15. Thanks for interesting info. I was in Staszow (in Poland) this summer. Saw no KTs... Why would anyone want to fight for this dump. I can make a small map of downtown from memory...
16. I actually saw T-34 for $5000 with running engines in Poland. Thay were not in a good shape - The insides were trashed. But you could move them and turn the turret. Thats about it. All other equipment was gone. Of course shipping it to US would cost another $10000 probably.
17. Since you asked: I saw 1 MG34 on a tripod and 1 MG42 on a tripod. There was also that twin MG42s in the AA mount... But seriously they could get that AT gun and try it out...
18. I just saw Soviet AT-45mm gun for $3000. (Shotgun news January 1, 2002 issue www.shotgunsnews.com) You can also buy T-34 for $5000. So for only $8000 BTS could start testing penetrations and their CMBB equations. That should put the end to all complains about inadequate penetration equations. I am sure Steve,Charles, Fionn would really enjoy it... They had also for sale:MG34 MG42, MG-Madsen 8mm, MP-44, MG Shwarzloze, WWI 155 howitzers (handy for measuring that blast value first hand), MG-42 with tripod, MG34 with tripod, AA MG42s in double mount, Bren, Vickers, Soviet PPsh And was SR-41 (PPsh41 convertion) was even used in WWII? (Add in Magazine claims this is soviet semi-auto WWII rifle) I was amazed how many WWII stuff is still available...
19. It is Friday 23:12 There is Soviet WWII Movie on Cable 59 in San Diego, USA
20. Ok - my friend claims this "thing" existed. Is that true? What was the caliber on the double gun?
21.
quote:
Originally posted by Michael emrys: Can that be right? That's about an order of magnitude greater than anything I could reasonably expect. Michael

Sorry - 70/minute!
22. I think in CMBB German tanks might have problems in 1941
23. I purchased Russian book (1999- post Soviet) about weapons of Red Army. Here is what it said about about AT rifles/MGs KPB - AT Machine gun (1944) Penetration 32 MM at 90 degrees at 500 meters. ROF 70/minute. PTRD - (1941) AT rifle Penetration 37mm at 300 meters. PTRS (1941) AT rifle. ROF 15/minute, Penetration 35mm at 90 degrees at 300 meters, 25mm at 500 meters. Germans used captured ones as PzB 783®. Could penetrate 50mm vertical armor at 100 meters. (I think early PzIV had 50mm vertical front armour) So at very close distances these could be quite deadly to tanks like PzIII and PzIV. [ 10-28-2001: Message edited by: killmore ]
