  1. The First CM AAR, which was between Moon and Fionn...gave everyone a taste of what was coming
  2. I'm just beginning to learn Linux...so no way to test this yet...anyone tried using WINE for CM? Seems quite a few Win games are running ok using it.
  3. Maybe there's something in my expirence that may help : I have cable modem, which uses a nic card...so I have 2 NICs in my 'host'...I used ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) with ME on all 3 systems...first I tried to use the 3 1/2 you 'can' create from your host for my client systems...it blew my host's internet connection, without giving me any errors...just wouldn't work. I reinstalled ME on the host and got my connection restored, then read a bit more closely what the 3 1/2 creation said; which was that it was to be used on a Win98/95 client...you just need to run the ICS directly on your client(s) to get the connection, if ME is their OS. Also, wheather any difference was made, I assigned static ip addresses for each of my LAN NICs. This is all in addition to what brooktrout stated about sharing, computer names, and workgroup. Play with fire (MS Windows), get burned
  4. None...I've been using ME longer than 3 months...it handles resources a bit better than 98, and 'seems' a bit more stable.
  5. Indeed it is an excellent game for those of us who cut our teeth on (board)wargames. I've played the demo and I like it. Got to get the grandkids taken care of for Xmas, then it's my turn, and this one is at the top of my list
  6. Well, just keep on "breaking" I've been around here since close to the beginning, and since CM's release, there are way too many posts to try to keep up with I, for one, appreciate the link. Thank you
  7. Suggestion : The one thing I didn't see advised is when you do a clean install, be sure to fdisk (delpart if you have it), so that you have as clean a hard drive as is possible...FYI : only delpart gets rid of all Win2000 files (maybe NT also???); fdisk won't...(I see that Lorak has Win98, which fdisk is fine for Win9x systems)...
  8. Found it Do a search on the thread "Too Easy"... Sometimes it sure ain't "too easy" finding a thread you know exists [Edit] I had to use "Target Fixation" to find the thread...because I remembered that's when the topic came up. [This message has been edited by Strider (edited 08-27-2000).]
  9. Do a search on "ditches"...there's a few posts covering your question. I remembered someone asking a similar question using the word "ditches", which is how I knew to use it as a search word. Otherwise, it can be difficult trying to find an explanation that adequately covers your questions using the search function. On the other hand, some posts are quite old, and the final game version may be different in regards to what was discussed in the past, so it never hurts to repeat a question. We all might receive new information
  10. This, or something similar, was discussed a long time ago. May have been preBeta-demo. At the time, the answer was no. Maybe someone with a better memory can remember the specifics
  11. Check out Wild Bill & the Raiders' site under scenerios...scroll down to the Combat Mission section...there's quite a few Ops in there. http://wbr.thegamers.net
  12. Ok...I'm missing something here. I've created an Operation map. But my 1st battle map uses the entire North-South portion of the Operation map (way too much), only uses about 1/3 West to East portion (which is ok). Is there a way (if so how) to adjust the 'battle' map(s) in an Operation map? Thanks.
  13. I have a lot of expirence with the CC series (except 4), and true, the 'command box' is similar, but that's where you'll find ALL simillarties(sp) end
  14. It depends on your system...CPU, RAM, vid card...you'll find it fairly easy to create your own scens and see how your (and your buddie's) system handles it
  15. Jager : My system is about the same as yours, and I have no problem with the graphics. Madmatt : I have the same sound problem as Spook when exiting the game...a lot of static sound over the explosion sound.
  16. Ahhh...another CoC FRC convert(?) Keep 'em coming...
  17. Received the game and poster today...ordered the first part of Sept '99. I'm in California.
  18. Got home from work and here it is Bakersfield, CA (just down the road from Fresno and over the mountain from Carson
  19. Don't know if this is of any help, but the next to the last screen before the game starts are 4 choices...the first is playing vs the computer, 2nd is hotseat, 3rd is Email, 4th tcp/ip...there is a button below the picture that you press to highlight (at least on a PC)...is this maybe the area you are missing? You should be choosing the "Email" button...
  20. Yes, the AI 'can' force a surrender. As the Germans (against Darwin , he did about the same thing to me...I did have a couple of tore up squads left, when my reinforcements arrived. On about the third turn of my reinforcements showing, the AI ended the battle, even tho my reinforcements were doing ok (didn't pay attention to morale level). So yes, the AI 'can' force a surrender...don't know the reason it didn't for this game of Darwin's...
  21. Depending on how long each player takes to complete a move and/or watch the vid, it's feasible to do 10min turnabouts easy. At times duing the game, one or both players will take a while longer to try to 'recover'
  22. 'bout time FRC made a decent showing Me and Darwin, are the only FRC who have been 'liveing' here Where's everyone else???
  23. Sounds like you may have downloaded the old, old Beta-demo scenerios. They won't work on the Gold-demo.
  24. Just checked with Blackhawk...he doesn't yet have it posted online. When he does, one of us will post it for y'all.
