Funny post and amazing to see our elected leaders playing I-can-make-the-dumbest-decision-of-all-time. If that's happen why not speak Martian like in the movie Mars attacks. At least it is not as dumb as what the politicians decided. Artmann : excellent post. As a Swiss, living in the French speaking part, I would like to add that we should not try respelling words because there is a background, a history, a reason behing every single word you write. In French at least. And it is so beautiful like this. Why change ? BTW knowing 2-4 different language (not all of them very well) I think that the most beautiful one is French and second Italian. Those two sing like the birds in the early morning. Of course if you want to give order, choose German, it is much better suited.

Of course there is no other game like this. It's a beauty to watch, the AI is great, the realism perfect, the histrorical contest awesome and I could go on for ever. Further more there is the Meta Campaign that will bring us to another level of palying. I know it is not BTS idea but if the support (CM) wasn't so great it would have never happened. Great job BTS. One question though : did you guys expect that much success ? You probably knew you had a hit with the combination of the above, no ? ------------------ Veni, vidi, vici Julius Caesar

Compromize, compromize, compromize again. Or if you are lucky you have a pair of handcuff to tie her in the kitchen with a scarff in her mouth and voilà. Seriously, my wife is not into wargaming at all, she just can't understand the fun we have doing it. It's just fine. She even aks me sometimes if I win or lose. Perfect wife. On the other hand I know that if I play too much she won't be happy at all. What we promised each other is that if one is plays too much and forget the other we'll tell each other and work it out. It's the best way. Happy playing ------------------ Veni, vidi, vici Julius Caesar

I have a similar question. Do you, the player, decide if the tank is hull down ? I mean if the tank move uphill and stops, does the TC puts his vehicle in a hull down position or the AFV moves until the point I ordered him to move to ? ------------------ Veni, vidi, vici Julius Caesar

Jeff replied to SS_PanzerLeader's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
preorder : no (my card expire in june 00 so I don't want any paper sh*t down my desk. If the game is released before that date I'll buy otherwise I have to wait til my new card will get available) copy : never ever ever. It's again my ethics. BTS rules. -
Soon to be Allied commander sounds off...
Jeff replied to Wotan's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
I'd rather play the Germans for a few reasons : 1) They got the best weapons : armor, aircraft, MG, etc. and they make up for any of the bad decision or stupid ones I make. 2) More to it though, I've read many books on WWII and especially those on distinctive division (Panzer-Lehr, GD, LSAAH) and I kinda grow compassion for those brave soldiers (I don't say that the Allied were not so brave). They lost everything. Moreover, they had everything to win : good soldiers, excellent material (esp after 1943), great Generals. But one major flaw : Hitler. He made good decisions in the early war but taking over the entire enemy was the worst move. The repression against the Ukranian people, who were happy to be delivered from the soviet grasp, was the dummest thing ever. There is more examples but it would take days. That's the main reason why I play the Germans. See ya guys around. BTW CM RULES ! ------------------ Veni, vidi, vici Julius Caesar -
What would you want to have been????
Jeff replied to DEF BUNGIS's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
A fighter pilot. Otherwise a Panzer commander in the Panzer Lehr Division. ------------------ Veni, vidi, vici Julius Caesar -
Good name so far. I don't know if BTS wouls pay attention to this though. But who cares, feels good to think we help. For CM2 no good ideaof mine For CM3 I'll bear with Hawk, "desert rats" is great. But what about DAK ? (I know it's a bit one sided as "Rommel's finest hour" though) For CM4 "Blitzkrieg" sounds great. But what about "Panzer Marsch!" ------------------ Veni, vidi, vici Julius Caesar

Good question. I'm ready as well. ------------------ Veni, vidi, vici Julius Caesar

I'll be there !

And CM5 about the Pacific ? I'm just asking as I think with this engine it could be a lot fun. Not so many tanks but it's a fun theater to play. We could play some island invasion (Tarawa for instance). It would be quite different from what we usually play. Can't wait to play CM1 though. ------------------ Veni, vidi, vici Julius Caesar

JUMBO (as in big) Weekend Update on CMHQ!!!
Jeff replied to a topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Hey Madmatt is there something wrong with your site ? When I open it, it shows the update from 12 to 18 of March. The worst is that during this current week I chekced everyday and it was fine. I saw all the updates except the one from Saturday. Do you know what happens ? ------------------ Veni, vidi, vici Julius Caesar -
OK Fionn I see your point. And it must be working just fine. But I still think that if I play you I would learn more, even if I would be smashed, than palying somebody as good as me. What I wouldn't want in the system is some sort of dicrimination (don't know if the word exist in English) where someone does not want to play someone else because he is to good for the guy. But I think I'll be playing ladder game. You convinced me. Good day to you all ------------------ Veni, vidi, vici Julius Caesar

Here is a link that might help you if you know the division you are commanding. It details everything for scratch to the end of the war. Forgot to say it's on the german only. http://www.uwn.edu/People/jpipes/start.html ------------------ Veni, vidi, vici Julius Caesar

Hunt 52 don't you think you might end up with a two level system ? I explain : games might take a long time to play especially by E-mail so I think the good playet would not want to waste their time with newbies or someone who is not close to them as for ladder ranking. Therefore the top players will fight together while the rest just hangs their hoping to get to the top. The best way to learn is to play against someone who is better(I know it might not be so much fun for the one who is by far the best, but they should remember when they started they were not the best). Further more by playing against better guys you will get more points. So personnaly I will not play ladder game unless my opponent force me to do it. And again I might refuse. Personal opinion. ------------------ Veni, vidi, vici Julius Caesar

Touch me, I've seen the beta demo
Jeff replied to G Ned Anderson's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
To settle this I propose Switzerland. A peacful and very nice country. We got everything to keep a player happy. Wine, beer, some home-made-hard-down-the-throat type of liquor, women (you gotta have some distraction after planing, killing and bleeding for hours). So it is the best place. You are all invited. ------------------ Veni, vidi, vici Julius Caesar -
Colin, hero does not mean god !! God is way above. Madmatt, did you ever consider making your own game or ask BTS if you could be part of it ? ------------------ Veni, vidi, vici Julius Caesar

Impressive numbers Madmatt ! You are like god to me now. Excellent work. I love your site. But 1 question. How do you manage to do all this ? Don't you have a life aside CM ? ------------------ Veni, vidi, vici Julius Caesar
