1. At the bottom of the screen there's a large menu bar. Click on the label "hotkeys" and a screen with all the short cut will pop up.
 2. The Tiger's biggest drawback is the really slow turret, so if you can work around it you can usually get a couple of shots off before it rotates to fire at you. Cover and movement are key.
 3.
quote:
Good by till CM2 comes out

That should have been "good buy"

Sometimes even the most obviously ironic statements are misinterpreted and smileys might be needed to get your point across [This message has been edited by Das Boot (edited 09-06-2000).]
 5. KIA, I tried the bucket thing too with both an american and a german bucket, and it has a number of flaws. The standard american bucket is vastly overrated, as everyone knows the triangular shape of german slits gave them a superior sighting mecanism. Surely BTS should look into this, cause as it is, the american buckets are just too good. Besides, the tin used in german buckets was of a better quality. Yet when I tried it I penetrated the side of the bucket - even with a gentle whack, whereas the american buckets took several hard top hits without breaking. This is clearly wrong.

 8. I nominate FIFA2000 as wargame of the year. Have you ever been 4-0 down just to score the winning goal 6 minutes into injury time against you former best friend? Now that's war for you. ------------------ The first casualty when war comes is truth

 10. Wow, that's weird. Danish national TV is also showing Stalingrad tonight at 11.35 pm
 11. Yeah Doug, that's right. On the same note, why is it, that even when driving down a perfectly straight road it's necessary to turn the steering wheel vigorously from side to side every few moments? Or that you can always park directly outside the building you're visiting? ------------------ The first casualty when war comes is truth
 12. Just looked through todays business section and now the ratio is 7,43. Aaaaaarggggghhhh. Danm you all. Damn you all to hell. BTW, I kind of like NYC. It's the only place I've seen a waiter open the door for you when you go to McDonald's. And they had a pianist too. I was a very surreal experience eating junk food while the pianist was playing Mozart. Go figure. ------------------ The first casualty when war comes is truth

 14. Danish units would be a great idea for CM ½ (1939-41). And don't worry about the sound issues, they only have to have one phrase: "Vi overgiver os" = We surrender. Steve, those are only the really pricey places (This isn't Norway ) The rest is actually ok, and you don't have to drink that tap water, you americans call beer
 15. Yeah phoenix, but the beers are about 50 DKR now. Oh, damn Alan Greenspan too. Grrrrr. ------------------ The first casualty when war comes is truth
 16. Yes, they are. I live in Denmark and ordered the game some months ago when the dollar/crown ratio was about 6,50. Now it's risen to 7,41 and it seems to keep going. Damn you Bill Clinton for not ruining the american economy, 'cause you're ruining mine. And damn you BTS for not releasing Combat Mission when it was cheap. The way things are going, when CM is released I could have bought a car instead. ------------------ The first casualty when war comes is truth

 18. Pham, Please re-read BTS' answer earlier in this thread.
quote:
What one game does and does not do is largely irrelevant. What the real world does and does not do is totally irrelevant. It all comes down to what CM can do given its unique nature

 19. Mikeathome, I think you're simplifing things. Sure, these basic lessons are very concise and state exactly what to do in a given situation, but they don't cover every eventuality. War is fluid and no guideline can tell you exactly what to do at all times. Training will give soldiers some basic rules of engagement, but only in a "perfect" combat environment will reality equal SOPs at all times, so - as Steve said - they have to THINK. For instance:
quote:
18. Ammunition should not always be conserved; in the decisive moment, if you want to save casualties, you may expend ammunition at exceptionally high rates (for instance, an emergency attack.)

This is hardly an iron clad SOP, and it again stresses the most important issue: Commanders have to judge THEMSELVES when to conserve ammo and when not to. In short: War isn't math and no formula can be given to win. Training will get you far, but to fully exploit it, you have to think how best to use your knowledge.
 20. *Das Boot quietly wonders how Capt_Manieri knows what Fionn, Madmatt and Das Boot taste like when they have been fed to Manieri's German Shepard. Oh, but of course, Manieri is a German Shepard*
 21. *Das Boot roasts a sausage on the still smoldering fire. Hmmm, barbecue *
 22. Grenade explodes and blows Capt_Manieri to a thousand bits, but unfortunately every little bit generates into a full new Manieri. Oh no. The horror!
 23. What sport are you talking about? Water Polo?
