  1. BTS has already stated that there will be no dead bodies. Also they have stated that no crosses or tombstones will be placed, Why you ask. It is cheesy, lame, and gamey (BTS did not actually state that part). Also, when you lose men they are not necessarily dead. Just combat ineffective. At the end of a scenario the status display will tell you how many men you lost and how many where actually KIA. In a campaign setting; men that are not KIA or Captured have a chance to return to service. Also please use search function BEFORE posting. thank you. ------------------ "Armchair Generals never lose any men"-Darstand
  2. US squads have no integral AT ability, However if I put a US squad right on top of a Tiger do they have a chance to kill it? ------------------ "Armchair Generals never lose any men"-Darstand
  3. Greatest moment would have to be when my hidden Zoka team popped up to shot a passing Tiger. I remember thinking to myself "here comes the Tiger. O yes he is getting up. YES he fires! OH NO! Round hits side turret for no damage. OH G*D he is turning his gun towards me. Shoot again Shoot again you slow b*st*rd. He shoots a second shot. Hits Tiger in lower (rear? side? hull) Knocks it out; crew abandons tank. YES! YES! YESSSSSSSS!" Most Deserving of a Medal Goes to my HVY SMG squad. They were in the Forward most house in the Riesberg Scenario. Over the course of the battle they kill 28 Men! ------------------ "Armchair Generals never lose any men"-Darstand
  4. BAMSE said, "Still having problems with teams not unloading from vehicles when I want (them) to!" I discovered the same problem; it helped that I halted the movement of the vehicle, before disembarking. Try halting all movement or pausing 15 to 30 seconds (of the vehicle in question) on the turn of disembark. Imagine that troops unwilling to jump off a moving vehicle Now thats attention to detail! ------------------ "Armchair Generals never lose any men"-Darstand
  5. Anything thats runs out of ammo need to be tracked on the main unit screen. I once spent 3 turns running around with a HT that was not firing before I finally discovered why. ------------------ "Armchair Generals never lose any men"-Darstand
  6. I don't understand the need to play a turn 10 times. I generally play a turn twice once from each flank. Every once in a while I might actually play it 3 times. I have played 5 games I have 3 Total Victories 1 minor victory and one draw. Does anyone actually play a turn ten times? ------------------ "Armchair Generals never lose any men"-Darstand
  7. First game: The Last Defense as US Minor Allied Victory. Most interesting parts; 60mm mortar immobilizes a Stug III with a near miss. Second Game: Reisberg as Germans Total Axis victory. Most interesting part, HVY SMG squad kills 28 Allied troops! Give those guys a medal! Third Game: The Last Defense as Germans Draw. Most interesting part, None. A bloody ugly fight. Fourth Game: Reisberg as US Total Allied Victory. Most interesting part I manage to keep all my Shermans alive! One immobilized but in good battle field position continues to contribute to the rest of the game. Fifth Game: the Last Defense as US Total Allied Victory. Most interesting parts, I shoot a Tiger in the rear with a Zoka! Two Half-tracks taken out with 60mm mortars. Please try to keep your stories brief. ------------------ "Armchair Generals never lose any men"-Darstand
  8. Hide Command Maybe it is just luck but I have never had troops open fire to erly. On The Last D as US I had my I had a platoon of men and Zoka start on the far right-hand side of the map. They sneaked forward to the road and were hiding in the woods. Well a Tiger and a Platoon of Germans came down the right (left from the German perspective) side. The Tiger stopped about 100 yards from my men and waited while the infantry moved forward to check the are even though the Germs came within 50meters of my men; they never unhide. Finally 2 turns later the Tiger moves down to the road and heads into town. As soon as the Tiger turned its vulnerable flank to the Zoka he Unhide himself and opened fire the first shot hit the upper side turret and did no damage, the tiger continues into town but turns its mighty gun towards the Zoka. Just before the gun comes to bear the second shot catches the Tiger in the lower rear hull (goodbye engine!) The loss of the Tiger so early in the game led to my Total Victory! ------------------ "Armchair Generals never lose any men"-Darstand
  9. Mostly just puting this back near the top of the post pile . If you are looking for a good fight feel free to email a few people. And ofcourse post your own for MP fun! ------------------ "Armchair Generals never lose any men"-Darstand
  10. An opponent registry has not been developed yet. That's why I started the primitive one on the forum board. Goto the "Post Your Email for PBEM" to email a few people I am sure you will find a worthy foe! ------------------ "Armchair Generals never lose any men"-Darstand
  11. Got lucky only stayed up till 12:30. Even managed to pull off a Allied minor victory on my first game. The Last Defence. ------------------ "Armchair Generals never lose any men"-Darstand
  12. I am really beginning to think that wargamers are an inflexible unimaginative bunch. Tgra one alternative history coming up. Germany invades Poland and keeps on going into Russia. The Brits happy to see the Fascists and the Communist tear each other up; holds back to let them duke it out. A couple of years later a somewhat victorious Germany (owning every thing west of Moscow) turns its greedy eyes towards the Low countries and France. Great Briton joins the conflict fully. Cue Operation SeaLion the invasion of Briton in 1944. ------------------ "Armchair Generals never lose any men"-Darstand
  13. SimmonFox: Your diatribe has proven that you have become impatient as well I understand your annoyance with the general silliness that that has overcome this forum. Instead of complaining offer an alternative, for example. I would be interested your thoughts on how to use inferior US tanks Vs German tanks; or how to properly recon an area. Start a post like this and you will achieve the results you seek. ------------------ "Armchair Generals never lose any men"-Darstand
  14. I would like to see more discussions on some more serious fronts as well. Such as A how to guide to Defending a village Proper application of combined arms/ combined arms tactics How to use inferior US tanks Vs German tanks Maneuver warfare Attrition warfare ------------------ "Armchair Generals never lose any men"-Darstand
  15. I would like to second Aikidorat. Fionn you did a fine job and it is a shame that you have received such a lambasting for your troubles. ------------------ "Armchair Generals never lose any men"-Darstand
  16. Some basic strategies that I learned from Chain Of Command (the closest thing to a war game I have ever played) that I hope will apply to CM. Flank!: Getting to the side or better yet even rear of your opponent is the most effective method of swiftly destroying them. How to do this is very situational dependent, and must be learned the hard way. Notice this tactic is first. It is the most fundamental military tactic Be Proactive: "I am a hunter of men" This is my Mantra when playing CoC. I set up ambushes. I get one or two kills then move. I do not fear pulling back. Stick and move. My objective is to kill, not seize flags. Side note my old objective used to be seizing flags but since this change in philosophy my EFF has gone up quite nicely. Outnumber and Overwhelm: if you can outnumber your foe in a situation by 2 or 3 or 1. He becomes pinned. Advance and Destroy! Maneuver: Don't stay in one place to long! To my fellow CoC players my handle at 2 am is Darstand (of course ). I am a Sgt. with the JFL. Hope to see you on the field of battle. I have almost no experience with "true" wargames, but I actually consider that an advantage. I have no preconceived Ideas about what I can and cannot do. I am not wedded to any favorite stratigy. I have nothing to unlearn, I need only to learn. Can't wait to see you all on the battlefield. ------------------ "Armchair Generals never lose any men"-Darstand
  17. Ok this Demo insanity is starting to get silly. It seems as half the topics on this forum are "Wheres the Demo" posts. Ok everyone take a deep breath, let it out slowly, relax.
  18. Tom: Any email service that can handle attachments will work fine.
  19. Ok with the Demo coming very soon; I would like for anyone who is interested in being contacted by me (or by anyone) to post their email address. This way we can have a list of people to email for a PBEM game. darstand@mindspring.com ------------------ "Armchair Generals never lose any men"-Darstand
  20. What other game developer does these sort of things. It is so cool that time and time again you guys make changes to make gamers happy! ------------------ "Armchair Generals never lose any men"-Darstand
  21. Waaaay of topic Heretics, Cynics, and Converts I have watch many games be developed over the years. The last one was Homeworld. The people on the bulletin boards could easily be divided into three categories. Converts: people whom truly like the game and do what they can to support it. They tend to get emotionally involved and are easy baited. They honestly try to do what they can to improve the game. Cynics: Cynics are generally supportive; but refuse to get too emotionally involved and tend to have a "lets wait and see attitude". They tend to be more willing to question the negative aspects of the game, but are trying to be helpful. Heretics: These people really enjoy making converts unhappy. They are very disruptive and not in the least bit helpful. They enjoy trashing the game, making unreasonable comparisons, and starting flame wars. As a Cynic it is sometimes amusing to watch the Converts get all bent out of shape when the Heretics start acting up. The trick is to identify the heretics and ignore them; eventually they get bored and go somewhere else. Just curious though is OSCAR a paid lobbiest for HPS, an employee, a major stockholder? ------------------ "Armchair Generals never lose any men"-Darstand

  24. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND... The fault lies squarely on the shoulders of Fionn. Apparently Fionn is an extremely busy man. For CM he is presently doing many things. 1) Beta testing 2) Scenario Creation 3) I *believe* he has created a web site somewhere that is effectively a CM fansite 4) And of course AAR's Now this is on top of what else he does in spare time. 1) Run his own website (s?) 2) Make a living. 3) Spend a least a little time with his new bride. 4) TGN Manager of Historical research. From what I understand Fionn is also somewhat well known in Wargamming circles as a reviewer and an expert on German tanks. I was originally going to berate Fionn for not following through with his AAR's. But it is hard to criticize a man who keeps himself this busy.
  25. I am laying my bet on Friday! I hope so I need something to pull me away from my Star Wars: Racer game.
