    Save the crew!

Its not too far out of the box as a similar idea is inherent in the Warhammer 40,000 universe in what is called "servitors". Basically they are mechanical bodies coupled with organic human brains to control them. Everything from point defense to space ship navigation and fire control can and is often relegated to servitors. Of course the world of 40K is a blending of lost high technology, Gothic culture, mysticism and fanaticism. They do have some cool battles with Space Marines though. Madmatt
  2. That style of "displacement" camera view was intended by the developers. I am not sure why, but I guess they felt it gives a more theatrical impression. Once you get the hang of it though, you can predict where the camera slew will stop and better position the views. Madmatt
  3. Due to some copyright issues with the music we can't host his original 'Unofficial' Video but daskal did make an updated special version of an "official" trailer for us which we have hosted here: ftp://ftp.battlefront.com/pub/misc/T72/T72_overview.wmv Madmatt
  4. In some of the campaign missions, the tank you command has some previous battle damage that restricts the use of various components (like the laser ranger finder). I believe that might be what you are seeing with your limited selection of gunsites. When you play with a T-72 in one of the single missions, do you see the other sites? If so, than thats what is going on. Madmatt
  5. Just to throw in some more info, the original question was have we given consideration to making console versions of our games? YES... What did we decide? WAIT AND SEE... Madmatt
  6. From the sound of it, you are getting some weird video corruption with lower resolution graphics filling in for higher ones. This could be due to some sort of data corruption but usually exhibits itself when the game runs of accessible VRAM (video memory). Have you looked at possibly reinstalling the game or your video extensions? Are you sure all 32 megs of VRAM on your card is being properly addressed and utilized? I know on the PC there are various utilities to test VRAM, I would assume such also exists for the Mac and I would suggest perhaps seeing if you can locate one and run some tests on your video card as what you describe should not be occurring, normally. 9. Damn, Just noticed I made the same mistake in the packs installer. Sorry about that. I will get that fixed ASAP and upload the new version. Madmatt
  10. Whoops, thats was my fault. I copioed and paste the wrong part. What it should say is this: Installation: Download and launch the file. When asked location to extract the files, select your T-72 Game folder. The files will install into the proper directories.
  11. Hello everyone! Today we have a nice little surprise thanks to Daskal and DoubleVeteran. This new mission pack allows you to re-play sixteen different missions (15 from the campaign and the target practice ones) now as T-55A instead of T-72B. In addition a revised Target Practice mission for the T-34/85 is also included. Install Directions are included in the file! You can download this Mission Pack #2 (and other user submitted missions and mods) from the T-72 Download page located here: http://www.battlefront.com/products/t72/downloads.html Enjoy! Madmatt
  12. Daskal, I use both joystick and keyboard with no problem at all. Using one doesn't keep me from using the other. I would suggest you make sure your joystick is properly calibrated and that you have the most recent drivers for it (if needed). Madmatt
  13. If you get a corrupt message my only suggestion is to download from a different mirror although so far I have not heard of any real problems from any of the mirrors. Are you sure the file is completely downloading? Madmatt
  14. Since a lot of people have been asking about a release date update I wanted to repost this message from Hubert as I think it might have gotten overlooked before. <<< Gentlemen, Being the first of the month and considering some of the content in recent threads I felt it was only appropriate to post some further info on SC2 development status. As you know our goal was to have this game finished by the end of this year and while I have been working away feverishly, double time in the last six months, unfortunately at this point it looks like we will be holding off release a little while longer. While it would have been great to get this game in everyone's hands for Christmas we wanted to first and foremost make sure we delivered a final product that was properly finished and not, as RLEETE has pointed out, arbitrarily tied into the up coming sales season. The good news is that the game is VERY close. Beta testing reports that the game plays very well and that the balancing is just about right. There has also been a lot of positive feedback on the new features such as Weather, Production Delay, Diplomacy, and the expanded Atlantic and not to mention the flexibility of the Editor. While we’ll all have to wait a bit longer, myself included, before the game is wrapped up I do hope you will find any necessary delays worth it as I think the game will offer much more depth and flexibility than anything else similar. Sincerely, Hubert >>>> So basically, like we have always said, the game will be released when its finished and although its very close...it aint ready yet. Madmatt
  15. It's actually pretty uncommon to have a save feature in a dyanmic real time simulator (think about flight sims for example) and there isn't one either in the full version. Of course, your campaign progress is saved but you can not save while in a mission. Madmatt
  16. There is nothing that I am aware of in either SP that would affect game performance either way. For various other reasons (network security a big one) I would recommend sticking with SP2 though. Madmatt
  17. I have an all USB CH-Products rig that I use with every game I play. From First Person Shooters to Flight Sims. It is made up of a: CH Pro Throttle ( I have custom key maps for all my different games and as I said, even use it for FPS's as I hate using a keyboard). CH Pro Pedals (for rudder control) CH CombatStick (I looked at the Fighterstick but it has too many hat switches.I prefer buttons) Using the latest Configuration software from CH-Products, making up all new game maps for functions is simple and I can even print out the entire layout if I need a reminder what pushing UP on my third hatswitch does in Call of Duty 2. For the record, it throws a smoke grenade... Even though I can allow up to 6 different functions per button, I usually only set two (One normal and one "shifted"). If you were to max out on all the settings though you could configure well over 100 different controls with all the buttons and hats as the throttle allows you to toggle between 3 different "modes" which are indicated by a colored LED on the base. Its a great rig, not too expensive and CH-Products have served me well for years. In fact, I still have an old gameport rig (rudders, throttle, joystick) that I would be willing to sell if anyone is interested. Madmatt
  18. Actually, its not a bug or an oversight. We had talked internally about whether or not Dual Mode should be toggle-able from the Gunner Station. As I recall, we decided to NOT allow the Gunner to turn it off as to do so sort of defeated the purpose of having the Commander taking control over the gun in the first place. We were also considered that in multi-player mode, it might get annoying if the gunner kept turning off Dual Mode when the commander player enabled it. Now there is still an issue we are working on with Dual Mode and that involves the Azimuth Compass from the Commander view not updating properly but we are looking into getting that fixed and there is a pretty easy workaround for it. Just aim commander straight ahead, order the gunner to rotate gun to front, enable and disable Dual Mode quickly. That will *recalibrate* the compass back. Madmatt
  19. And if you would like us to host any new game or graphics mods, be sure and let me know and I will post it to our T-72 Balkans on Fire! Download page located here! We already have a few mods there now but we could always use more! http://www.battlefront.com/products/t72/downloads.html Madmatt
  20. Same issue as http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=50;t=000083 so combining into just one thread... Madmatt
  21. I will have to ask the developer if they have any ideas but in the meantime a few other things to try, just to be safe. #1 Re-download the demo from another site. #2 When you install and try and run the demo make sure all virus checking programs are disabled. Let me know if either of the above make any difference if you could. Thanks! Madmatt
  22. Yeah, thats the same movie as "Cross of Iron". Never saw the sequel. Madmatt
  23. Okay, try this, go to this link and download the config.pd file. Save it somewhere on your computer and then copy and paste it into the T-72 Balkans on Fire! Demo\DATA\config folder overwriting the file that is in there now. Now, launch the Config program first and check all the settings (launched via the cfg.bat or Program Group link), exit the configuration program and then launch the demo. Let me know if it works now or not. http://www.battlefront.com/misc/config.pd Madmatt
