    PBEM Anyone

Thanks all, I think I've found more than enough opponents now.

    PBEM Anyone

I'm looking for a PBEM opponent, playing a double-blind scenario, any module. Maybe playing one of the small Brit H2H scenarios that came with the game, or another of your choice.
  3. My beta demo is expired, is there a demo reflecting the newer updates to the game?
  4. Ask your son! Seriously though, CMSF uses a direct IP connection, one computer must HOST and one must JOIN the game. For LAN connections or direct internet connections, start a battle as usual, but at the game options screen, select under "players" 2 players, internet/LAN. The host computer will then display the local IP address, and say "waiting for connection" The person joining the game must go to "Join Network game" type in the ip and port and away you go. If you are behind a router/firewall as most people are these days, it gets more complicated, you would have to sort out the port forwarding on your router. This is usually pretty easy if you have the instruction manual.
  5. I think the basic mechanics in CMN will very likely be familiar to CMSF players, but even CMSF is a shock to CMBO players. Try the demo at very least to knock the corners off the learning curve.
  6. I think you know the answer, though CMSF can run after a fashion on pretty low end machines. The lack of any serious 3d processing will nix it though. Why not just try it?
  7. The other thing I discovered is that the system has to be BIG red X to be actually destroyed.
  8. I was too young to get into serious board wargaming stuff like this, but god that looks tedious. Surely the only reason you'd set out all that stuff and take hours to resolve one turn is because computers hadn't been invented yet.
  9. I think this a rare glitch caused by lack of resources on the computer. Try turning shadows off.
  10. It is fairly well proven in recent times that a large calibre artillery shell can damage and knock out an AFV if placed properly, it has happened dozens of times in Iraq.
  11. Didn't BFC briefly have a pretty good board-game style AWI game on the books at one stage or am I imagining that? ...Yes: "For Liberty!" that's it. They've defected to the opposition though.
  12. A cat will never give the game away. These birdies will be for millenia to come as well. With all respect to SO for posting an interesting article, man's domestication and selective breeding of animals (even if they are still technically wild) is not really news. This process seems no different to penning in some wild cows and shooting the ones that don't like it.
  13. Really, whether Akella is capable of making one or any realistic WWII sims depends on them and Battlefront, not the customer. What "could happen" is not relevant if what does happen is another disappointing localisation. The name change is not a bad idea, assuming the new version is any different to the old.
  14. One only has to point at a cow or a dog for proof of a similar process of evolution. Domestication was a concept that also informed Darwin's theories.
  15. Due to the length of online games, some simple, easy and clever save and resume UI would be an advantage also. I'll leave that with you!
  16. I don' think I've ever seen this. All units should be visible when no unit is selected in all modes.
  17. Best of luck with what sounds like a stressful arrival (ok, more than normal). When you see that half squished alien creature and think "where the hell did that come from?!", it's a beautiful thing.
  18. If you meant addition that's quite a good freudian slip
  19. The game is set in 2008, so it was set in the near future. In fact, with the each patch, some of the things little things that were predicted that didnt quite come true have been revised. So to answer your question, I don't know. Probably not.
  20. The most absurdest bit is the noteworthy pudding.
  21. The problem (and its a big one) with fuel cells is where the hydrogen comes from. Currently it is mostly derived from fossil fuels anyway.
  22. If we (as in, the world) start to see serious CO2 emission limits, I wonder whether electric cars charged by coal-fired power stations will continue to be seen as green. Probably ultra high efficiency fossil fuel or to a lesser extent, biofuel powered vehicles will be the way of the future.
  23. If you look over and see your copilot asleep, would you really say "that's a good idea, I might have a kip too"??
  24. To do the other 80% would be to interfere in God's will on earth, and that can't be good. If it's meant to be, it will be.
