  2. It's even funnier if you are the enemy.
  3. This sounds very interesting. I can see the furor on the board now the first time players realise that: 1) they have "lost" their units; and 2) the "lost" units were wiped out to a man by the enemy without the player realising it;
  4. I have not been able to find the image, but on the "Dateline" program, you see that Dragon Skin is made up of small individual interlocking disks, almost like medievial chainmail, which allows it to cover the entire body whereas the Interceptor with its individual plates still leaves gaps. In interviews on the program, it was also stated that Dragon Skin is being officially issued to army personnel involved in what they call "high risk" missions, although it was not explained what these were.
  5. Looking through the articles, it looks like the Interceptor was chosen not because it offered the best protection, but because it offered the best compromise solution, cost is probably an issue, as is weight, 48 pounds for Dragon Skin vs. 28 pounds for the Interceptor. Of course the Army sort of painted themselves into a corner by selling the Interceptor as the best on the market rather than the best overall solution. However, it does not look like this will turn into a political hot potato.
  6. Here is some more info on the program: Are U.S. soldiers wearing the best body armor? article on testing method: NBC puts body armors to the test I see the Army has also just released its own test results: Army: Dragon Skin armor failed battery of tests [ May 22, 2007, 08:10 AM: Message edited by: Sgt.Joch ]
  7. I am reviving this old thread since there was a "Dateline" show over the weekend comparing Interceptor vs. Dragon Skin. Based on all the firing tests in the program, Dragon Skin was superior to Interceptor in all tests in stopping various anti-personnel rounds and provided greater vital organ coverage. Not knowing much more than what I saw on the program, could anyone comment on why the Army is sticking with the Interceptor?
  8. Electronic Boutique says they won't sell it in Canada because "Shock Force" doesn't translate into French. It will be made available at Gringo Games in Mexico in due course, however. </font>

  10. FINALLY!!!! (time to get the special Graemlins out again) ...so...when can we preorder?
  11. It is coming along very nicely, it really shows off the "rudimentary graphics engine" or RGE in all it's glory. I like the mix and match of civilian/military clothing worn by the Syrian freedom fighters, but why are they all wearing hoods?
  12. You are not up to date Michael, the final list is: 1) 1920's Chaco war, between Bolivia and Chile, I believe; 2) 1939 Russo-Japanese border clashes (apparently Russia and Japan are huge gaming markets); and then 3) Spanish Civil War, 1936-39.
  13. I agree with Luderbamsen, this is the only game I have been really looking forward to since CMAK came out in 2003, we the captive brethern are already sold and it will take more than a gamespot preview to dissuade us. The issue for Battlefront would be more the loss of potential sales among the great unwashed masses that will see a lukewarm or negative review. In my case, I am already sold on the game, even though I am a bit disappointed that it only has a "fairly rudimentary graphics engine".
  14. No problem Steve, I will wait until I see the much improved "fairly rudimentary graphics engine" in action before I pass judgement.
  15. I don't disagree with your viewpoint and I am quite willing to sacrifice some graphic quality for full realistic fidelity, but the comment of "rudimentary graphics engine" does raise some questions.
  16. thanks for the link, I am a bit worried about this comment: Hopefully, it's due to the game still being in BETA.

  22. That's what UBI did with SH4 and look how well that turned out.
  23. I think Paradox is as tired of waiting as the rest of us and is trying to put some pressure on BFC by announcing a release date.
  24. Considering the brewing backlash surrounding the Silent Hunter IV release which was rushed out the door not quite ready for prime time, a too common occurence these days, I wholeheartedly agree with BFC's approach, take your time and release it when it is ready, although hopefully that will be in 2007.
  25. Dieseltaylor is the resident guru, but I use PBEMH F&T mode often. It seems to kick up like that every now and then even when you follow all the instructions. I usually switch back to non-F&T mode and switch back to F&T mode after a 1-2 turns, it always seems to work.
