  1. In pre-ordered on Sept 7 and have not got my game yet either. Matt has been VERY helpful in e-mail Send Mail to matt@battlefront.com send him your pre-order number. good luck Just where the hell did all these missing copies GO?? -tom w [ October 19, 2002, 01:48 PM: Message edited by: aka_tom_w ]
  2. YES to Terrain EFOW That has been discussed at some length here before. Terrain FOW would be a VERY inovative feature to this game. This would imply that until your units had LOS to all the battlefield you would only know what it might be like from the crappy road map you have to start with or if you are lucky a Topographic map. The problem with the topo map is that this is no way to show contour lines on CMBO or CMBB maps. its is still a GREAT idea. Terrain FOW should go on the Wish list for sure! (ok ok, as an OPITION to keep some folks around here from yelling at me:) ) -tom w
  3. Holy Crap!! That is the BEST review of CMBO I have ever read. That should be framed and posted somewhere! That was a great post! Well written and passionate! Its that kind of passion in the players who play this game and the guys that MAKE this game that make it so GREAT! Its the passion for historical accuracy and making a GOOD game that is FUN to play. (I still think CMBO was more fun to play, but this is just my personal opinion ) -tom w [ October 18, 2002, 02:16 PM: Message edited by: aka_tom_w ]
  4. I only need two reasons to buy the game: #1 There is NOTHING else like it available anywhere, for any price. #2 FREE membership on this forum! A $45.00 value ALL by its self! -tom w P.S. If it matters the game if BTS/BFC make their games available for Macs and PC's ALWAYS at the SAME time, and that is a BIG one for me!
  5. Steve has recently said: "Absolutely NO WAY!" to any suggestion of doing anything in the WWI PTO Can't find the quote BUT I know they said they would not be doing ANYTHING in Pacific at all. -tom w
  6. Matt posted somewhere yesterday that this issue is the same for CMBO and CMBB and that it will NEVER be fixed or resolved by BFC in anyway. The suggestion was to turn off or reconfigure sleep (so it does not sleep) as they are not going to fix this one. I'm not sure where Matt said this but it was posted yesterday. this is it: "Madmatt Administrator Member # 332 posted October 17, 2002 05:50 PM Suspend Mode (or sleep mode) and CM (BO and BB) don't mix. They never have, they never will. Madmatt -------------------- If it's in Combat Mission, it's on Combat Mission HQ! Combat Mission HQ Host of the Combat Mission WebRing" -tom w [ October 18, 2002, 10:08 AM: Message edited by: aka_tom_w ]

  8. thats a good question any comment from Matt on that one? -tom w
  9. you have never had you mac sleep while you were away from CMBO and then when you woke it up there was only a WHITE screen and nothing works and you had to reboot? Try it open CMBO let the mac sleep wake it up what happens? -tom w
  10. It would be my guess that they realize this is one of the MOST wanted features in their CMII engine re-write. BUT I think we will have to wait 2.5 -3 years for it. -tom w
  11. Yeah BUT! it could come ANY day now... (I hope) I just wanted to see if I could download and unstuff .rar file on my Mac. so far no luck. BUT the zipped files worked GREAT. -tom w [ October 17, 2002, 04:18 PM: Message edited by: aka_tom_w ]
  12. it was something like this but not exactly "DId he say something about GI Vombat SuCKz or some bad ass thing like that? no no sorry it was something about some Eric guy spending too much time over here reading this board and not spending enough time patching his GI game yeah yeah dat's da ticket." It may have been a not so nice comment about another war game that just came out with their (PC exclusive) demo. -tom w
  13. Yeah Baby! and the Fans of the Game are Rabbid and vocal and travel in packs as well! -tom w
  14. I downloaded the latest Stuffit 7.0 expander for the mac (FREE) and it can unstuff the .rar file but it says the files are damaged so I think I am still not doing something right maybe we could request the OLD stand-bye.... Why not just offer us zipped files they work GREAT for both mac and PC?? -tom w
  15. COOL BUT I can't open those .rar files? can anyone esle on a Mac tell me how to extract .rar files? all I see is a BIG page full of code when I click the link? a mac guys wants those mods TOO sorry -tom w
  16. I laughed but I would bet most folks in north america don't know about Vyvyan or the Young Ones ?? -tom w
  17. Yay! Thanks Matt. Boy you guys turned that one around quick, we were only talking about it less than 2 days ago. Also love the additional vehicles BTW. Fantastic.</font>
  18. DId he say something about GI Vombat SuCKz or some bad ass thing like that? no no sorry it was something about some Eric guy spending too much time over here reading this board and not spending enough time patching his GI game  yeah yeah dat's da ticket. I saw it before he edited it but did not take much notice because I WAS TOO KEEN TO READ ABOUT ALL THE COOL NEW FIXES IN THE PATCH! That is a pretty extensive list of tweaks and fixes! Holy crap that is a very thorough List! -tom w [ October 17, 2002, 01:52 PM: Message edited by: aka_tom_w ]
  19. at the risk of copy right infringement: " Combat Mission II is a different take on the RTS genre and it almost pulls it off. The game’s only problem is that it is painstakingly dull and hard to actually get into and play. Hardcore TBS finds will probably love it although RTS fans looking for something else may find it too dull. As everything is turn based, players may find this off putting as most RTS game allow for total freedom of control, hence the name ‘real-time’ and this game allows none of that real-time moving of troops, instead you’re stuck waiting for the computer or another player to make their turn. If you’re looking for a RTS you should definitely try something else, if you looking for a TBS game, this may be for you. Game: Combat Mission II: Barbarossa to Berlin Genre: RTS/TGS Hybrid Format: PC CD-ROM (Req. P 233MHz, 3D Card, 64MB RAM, 1.1GB HD Space) Developer: CDV Publisher: CDV Players: 1+ Age Rating: 11+ Out: Now Steven" ©2002, Staticplay.net All Rights Reserved® [ October 17, 2002, 01:32 PM: Message edited by: aka_tom_w ]
  20. I thought I saw Matt say something to the effect that sometime later this week (I think  ) he would post what they are working on in the patch?? (maybe). So far to the best of my knowledge (TTBOMK) Matt has made no such post or announcement yet. -tom w [ October 17, 2002, 12:55 PM: Message edited by: aka_tom_w ]
  21. I'm already missing all the COOL new features of CMBB in CMBO (which I thought was a REALLY great game to begin with!). I second that, there WILL be a hunger and need for the ALL the latest Combat Mission features found in the CMII re-write in the Western Front ETO D-Day to Berlin 2-3 years from now. I have no doubt about it! How could they deny us??? All the unit stats models and textures for ALL of CMBO and CMBB are already available to them, will they have to completely re-invent the wheel to include all the terrain and units from CMBO and CMBB into CMII with all its potential new features??? -tom w [ October 17, 2002, 12:48 PM: Message edited by: aka_tom_w ]
  22. * change PBEM format to only require two e-mails per turn * Realistic modelling of visibility at night [edit] * collision detection for all projectiles, even those that would hit Dschugaschwili</font>
  23. Sure why not? Hire a few more guys, or clone Charles a few times Give them say 2.5 - 3 years development time and voila: "the full monty. WWII total, all theaters, all units, everywhere" Why not  (semi-joking) -tom w [ October 17, 2002, 12:29 PM: Message edited by: aka_tom_w ]
