  1. Hey Hoop I have not got mine yet either! But Matt has been VERY helpful and another one (replacement) is on the way! Is it customs holding us up or are they getting stolen in the mail? -tom w [ October 22, 2002, 10:39 AM: Message edited by: aka_tom_w ]
  2. I think it is just another "unofficial" thread about penetration values. However that said anyting Rexford posts usually sounds somewhat "official" (in good humour there Rex ) -tom w
  3. why a new thread?? There are at least two threads about this currently active. -tom w
  4. Hi Rexford How does that data compare or relate to the penetration calculations in CMBB that are now have the fidelity to determine partial penetrations? Would those figures you gave lead to 100% certainty of complete penetration?? Or would those values represent some occasions when there would only be a partial penetration at those threshold values? -tom w
  5. from a previous thread on this subject: the NEW CMII engine possible new features like: * NO more Borg Spotting (Relative Spotting) * LOS & LOF blocked by LIVE AFV's (i.e. infantry have "some" cover behind live and dead vehicles that are not burning) * Same as above, vehicles and other units CANNOT shoot through other live or dead vehicles that are not burning * Full movie replay * Roster (for those would think they need it) * Multi-turreted vehicles like the Allied Grant and Lee * Amphibious units * Dynamic lighting effects (two fold: i. As visual effect and more important ii. Integration into fire- and detection algorithms * change PBEM format to only require two e-mails per turn * Realistic modelling of visibility at night * collision detection for all projectiles, even those that would hit *smaller terrain tiles ( 10 x 10 m or better ) * Programable SOP's for all units: (e.g. "Wouldn't it be great if an order could be given to the commander of company "A" to "take that hill" or "move to that position and set up a defense" and watch as the orders are dissiminated down throught he ranks and the varios platoons begin to try and carry out your orders. Yes, much as it happens with "Airborn Assult".) "with a little help from my friends" -tom w [ October 22, 2002, 07:37 AM: Message edited by: aka_tom_w ]

  7. where is the mistake? I can't tell is it in CMBB? should this issue be posted to the "what should be in the Patch?" thread?? -tom w</font>
  8. Right ON! Thanks Tom! Good name BTW  -tom w [ October 21, 2002, 03:47 PM: Message edited by: aka_tom_w ]
  9. Has anyone considered trying to simulate some good CMBO scenario's by recreating them in CMBB. I'm thinking of some classic match-ups between 76 mm Sherms and Panthers and Tigers. Are there any really GOOD CMBO scenarios that come to mind that have units that can be assembled together in the editor in CMBB to turn them into a CMBB version of a Classic CMBO battle. Chance Encouter comes to mind? Has it been done? Anyone have any similiar thoughts on this one? Has this come up before? Hey Rune....?? any ideas or suggestions? -tom w [ October 21, 2002, 02:45 PM: Message edited by: aka_tom_w ]
  10. Yes! A convoy command, follow friendly vehicle command, "STAY on the DAMN Road!" command, ANY of those would do. This has been a much asked for feature I think. I suspect it is unlikely in the patch. -tom w [ October 21, 2002, 02:56 PM: Message edited by: aka_tom_w ]
  11. anybody on the above list of pre-orders in Canada who has not got their pre-ordered game yet, get their's today? -tom w
  12. bump this file needs a new home on a Mod Server for sure great work -tom w
  13. Hi Andrew Everytime I see your posts I see my name Thanks that was the from the post about CMBO being a religion and I was the head of the optics cult or some such thing, I still chuckle about it. but your signature line says "play green troops" I would suggest that in CMBB that does not matter anymore because almost all infantry now goes QUICKLY to ground when under fire, and MG's and HMG's work like magic (now compared to CMBO) to pin them down or neutralize their advance. This reply has nothing to do with this thread but just a comment about CMBB. Thanks Now back to your regularly scheduled thread... -tom w [ October 20, 2002, 11:39 PM: Message edited by: aka_tom_w ]

  15. I just want to know who pays for the bandwidth when you down look a few gig of Free MP3's from someone elses underground server? Limewire and and other gnutella clients now do what Napster used to, the client is both a host and server and CLIENT, we need the napster model for MODS, if everything I have is available to any one when I'm online to get some more mods from someone else, this concept decentralizes the WHOLE thing, Napster might be dead BUT all the FREE MP3's are out there and you can use any number if clients to get them off other people (music enthusiasts) who are online when you are. (hotline, Limwire, kazaa a all flavours of the same concept) Why not the same idea for Mods? -tom w [ October 19, 2002, 09:16 PM: Message edited by: aka_tom_w ]
  16. OK but did you have enough bandwidth for free? That is the thing that gets most folks hung up here? -tom w
  17. Yeah but Hotline is Easy and it works great But the issue IS bandwidth and lots of it FREE, doesn't matter what flavour of server or client you have or use, we need LOTS of freebandwith somehow. -tom w
  18. this thread: http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=023659 is this guy still around???:  member number 1699!!! Author Topic: new player with ideas foxtrot Junior Member Member # 1699 posted February 20, 2002 08:34 PM Hey, I'm pretty new to Combat mission. I got the demo and am ordering the full game as soon as I got some money in the checking account. But in the game I used to play(myth2). The community would set up hotline servers as places to gather. With hotline I could set up a CMBO server where you could connect with the hotline client. I'd host files(mods, battles, operations) and it would be extremely easy and quick to set up games since the client also has chat. I'm not sure how fast my server is(DSL) but I'd like to give it a try if any others of this community would be interested. Hotline is free to download at http://www.bigredh.com [ October 19, 2002, 03:42 PM: Message edited by: aka_tom_w ]
  19. How does free downloading of warez or music mp3's work?? I know there is alot of free bandwidth out there I'm just not sure how to get at it? There are all kinds of folks out ther running Hotline/Limewire/gnutella/Kwaza servers in their baesments and they have much great file transfer needs than a mod server. I wish I know more about how guys that have 10 gigs of free software, videos and MP3's keep their sites up for free while allowing unlimited downloading with all that bandwidth?? again I wish I know alot more about how hosting a MP3 free music site worked? Was there not a fan of CM here that was going to host a Hotline server with only CMBO mods on it. Maybe I will do a search for his old (1 yr maybe) post? -tom w
  20. Oh no need to track him down. I have personaly invited him to come over here and read this thread. Lets see if he curious enough to see what we have to say here . -tom w

  22. There are plenty of folks in canada who have now waiting OVER 4 weeks since pre-ording. Matt says this is one of his biggest shipping headaches yet (e.g. shipping to Canada) You should send e-mail to Matt. -tom w
