  1. Compared to other boards I have been on this one is a breath of fresh air.
  2. Do you mean the Team Desobry battle around Noville? I can't remember if the conversion was on the CMAK disk or if you had to download it. I think one of the BFC guys made it. Kingfish did some excellent conversions for CMAK so you might want to contact him.
  3. I was pretty impressed with the black smoke from the Syrian tracks. Does anyone know how much each vehicle shoots out? After one engagement there was a huge area of black smoke (a couple hundred square meters) that seemed to come from one BMP. There were two other vehicles nearby but only the BMP was being engaged.
  4. Is that the same bug that makes guys freeze in mid stride? I lost two squads to that one and nothing I did would bring them back.
  5. Funny smoke story: When I was stationed at Hohenfels, my PSG decided it would be a good idea to strap a smoke pot to his BMP (actually a 113). Well he lit it and began driving around and, of course, it came loose and fell through the open troop hatch. So he jumps out and opens the troop door and continues driving around. We were laughing so hard the smoke dissipated before we could compose ourselves and move. Naturally the smoke pot came to rest against his ruck and started a fire so we all got to use our fire extinguishers to put it out. They didn't give us any more smoke pots after that.
  6. This is #1 on my list of things that need to be added.
  7. Your third point is the important one. Almost all fire by the Somalis in that battle was of the spray and pray variety. You can't do that in the game.
  8. Yea! So will the hot keys be etched in stone once the mouse pad comes out?
  9. Has anyone played this one yet? It is a lot of fun and a pretty tough fight. Red on Red returns a lot of the tension that you miss when playing with M1s. Couple of strange things though. During the first couple turns I noticed a floating unit Icon well away from the rest of my units. Clicking on it highlighted my squad in my area. Later that squad seemed to beam about 500 meters to where the icon was leaving a casualty at their original position on my half of the map. I also had several strange spotting incidents such as an infantry squad walking right next to a tank, being shot by said tank, and not noticing that tank until it had killed part of the squad. Meanwhile a friendly tank a couple hundred meters away killed the tank and took out the squad with it. The enemy tank was sitting in the middle of a road and the infantry were moving under a hunt command. I also had a tank literally pull up next to an enemy tank and not see it until the enemy was killed by another tank. The two blind tanks were again sitting in the middle of a road intersection. I have seen this behavior several times with units nearly touching each other being unable to see. Other than that though, I would like to thank the designer. Strength and Faith is a very challenging and fun fight.
  10. They survived because basically 99 percent of the Somalis were using area fire. The Rangers and D-boys reported that the vast majority would just stick their weapon in the general direction of the target and pull the trigger. Fortunately for the convoys, they did basically the same thing with their RPGs. Had even half the firers had the luck or nerve that the guys who brought down the three Blackhawks had then it would have been a slaugher. The Somalis had lots of experience shooting at each other but agains real troops they died in droves. Their main assets were their numbers and the fact that the were at least willing to show up and fire a few rounds. Many so called "trained soldiers" refuse to do even that. In CMSF every shot is more or less aimed unless you target an area with no one in it.
  11. Thanks. I'm still trying to figure this stuff out. How did you do that?
  12. (Hope this works.) (Damn I guess not.) [ August 15, 2007, 08:14 PM: Message edited by: sgtgoody (esq) ]
  13. cassh, You should have waited 4 more days and posted on the 1 year aniversary of your last post. No reason, I just think it would have been neat.
  14. Just finished Wilcox, every bit as much fun as Brandenburg. Had a great fight for that middle building compex. The only bad thing was that the Syrian armor just seemed to run from one corner to the other and played no real part in the battle. This battle had the greatest shot I have seen so far. I ran a couple Brads across a road at high speed. They were only exposed for about 4 seconds and a BMP killed one with a snap shot missile. Nice shooting Tex. It was also the first time I have seen a BMP fire its missile. I moved the engineers based on the comments of the others here and had no losses.
  15. Someone get Germanboy Andreas on the line so we can resolve the original question in this thread. Or has that been shot all to hell.
  16. Yeah, but you guys spawned the Spice Girls. I'll take the earthquakes.
  17. Maybe the Army has always been a more republican place? They even had a tank named after Oliver Cromwell... </font>
