  1. With regard to the Tweaked Textures: How is the mood at BTS about this mod. From what I can tell CoolColJ's work is, ahem, a little bit better than what I see in the POTDs. Some of it, like the church or the buildings I would simply call perfect. Does this not put a lot of pressure on the BTS artist? How do they feel about this? Curious, Thomm

  3. Flags look great! Nevertheless I disapprove that long (bright) beam which is showing in both BTS and your rubble texture. There is no such continuous beam in a real building. Hack it to pieces, please! Regards, Thomm
  4. Hmmm. What we already have is the shockwave and flying debris - both in 3D. These are the major constituents of an explosion, I think. If you add enough debris polygons and make them smaller and smaller, you will get a particle system that comes closer and closer to the real explosion. So how could you squeeze something similar to the bitmap smoke into this scheme? I do not know. Personally I am waiting to see the explosions in B17 II. They seem to be the benchmark at this time.

  7. Dear HowardB! Download the CC IV patches, set difficulty to veteran or higher for the German player and voila: Wurfrahmen gone forever from your game! I think you can also make your own battles with infantry battlegroups only (I am not sure, though). Also play the city maps where every destroyed vehicle will block the paths of all others, so you have to protect your armour very well. Rushing vehicles forward without infantry cover almost always results in its destruction. That ain't that bad, is it? Regards, Thomm

  9. I have bought Close Combat IV and I do NOT regret it! I will buy Combat Mission and I know I will NOT regret it! Since there are Demos you can play I do not know why people are buying games they do not like any more. I did not like the CC4 demo at all, but then the battlegroup mods came up for the demo and I had some of the best Close Combat battles of my life (including CC2). If you accept the limitations of the game system it is a very beautiful and intense game. I think that CC and CM are complementary. I do not want to miss either of them.   12. Dear Cpt. Manieri ! I bet that if a group of people decided to fart in your face on a regular basis you would try and wear a T-shirt yourself. Other peoples smoking might not be a non-smokers business, but the air, that we breath sure is.

Some Remarks on these GREAT screenshots: 1) Has anybody noticed that the RUBBLE has obviously turned truly 3D ?! 2) The ground in winter woods should be much darker ! 3) The snow beside roads does not blend in with the bump-mapped snow fields, yet !   20. Since you mention the tank crew: Is it not disturbing that the tankers do not have helmets which could throw shadow over their eyes ? I thought that this might be the reason why BTS did not paint shadows over the foreheads. Actually the original textures seem to be lit from below ...   22. Dear CoolColJ ! Very nice work you are doing here ! Do you think that you could add the shadow the roof is supposed to throw on the wall ? I feel the stone (?) walls are too patched ! They look a little bit like camouflage ! It would be nice to see some grass and flowers to smooth the interface of the lower edge of the wall and the grass. Also, there should be a smoother transition between the wheat field and the surrounding pasture. ... just a few comments! I really respect your work! I tried to tweak the faces to give them more contrast, but I failed miserably so far! Computer painting seems to have its own rules!
