  1. Well add to the list that infantry by side of hedge didn't see a sherman pass by in the open 20 meters away... Or a Shreck team set back from the bocage where a Sherman drove up the other side and saw the team 1st and blew it away... Or a Squad of German infantry had a Sherman drive 10 meters away and decide that grenades would be pointless and then they got spotted and blown away by the same Sherman that then rocked up to the bocage. It stayed at bocage a few seconds blasting at my squad before it noticed the shreck team the other side of the bocage, all the while the shreck team was smoking dope... Such is CM and I had forgotten all the $hit happens stuff after 10 years it is all flooding back... The joys of CM
  2. I hope they do. Your testing shows something is different with that section of bocage and my hat off to you for actually backing up your comments with actual research. If they need more Beta Testers I suggest you sign up... I just watched another video of my game with Barkmann and I have seen several times the cycle of firing (don't actually fire) aim and Firing (don't actually fire) issue which is another bug bear. There is nothing else on the market that beats it, but the frustration when you see these niggles are deeply annoying... The joys of CM.
  3. Hi it seems likely that the main gun crew member can not see the target and he is the one that fires. It is a pain when it happens (trees and branches usually) and a feature of the engine that every crew member is modelled and sights. So if the main gunner can't see then no bang bangs... I have had two Shermans drive too fast for my gunner to let loose through a gap I was covering... Such is life.... I seem to remember a long while back we had a crew member sat facing the rear in one tank and it took a while to sort that one out. Lots of moving parts in the game...
  4. Hi, Just to add to your thought process those who get adjusted scores because the game did not get completed I think should get the same scores as those who had a no show. They do the same in FOG2 unless the game is nearly completed, but as they can track points more easily in FOG2 that makes sense. For CM it is all about the end position and I think it is fairer to folk that they get the same as the no shows... Just my 2p.... Not that it will help me as after I guess a 10 year layoff of playing any CM game I am getting my arse handed to me in Barkmans corner... My oppo has been excellent at sending turns and we have around 12 mins left.... Soo much to re learn....
  5. Perhaps raise a ticket and attach some screenshots. Did you get the files 1st or did your opponent set up 1st. Not sure if Elvis can help but he might be able to progress it if anything can be done. Are you just doing CMBN or any of the others? Are they working on if doing the others? I tried doing the 1st round on a laptop but after a couple of turns the laptop couldn't cope. The desktop however works great. Not sure what would happen if say your oppo ignored the instructions setting it up and entered a PWD?
  6. Yes, but there is usually enough time to complete the game. So it should be possible if both players return the turns quickly, even with the time zone issues. If you can think of a better system then suggest away... The current implementation for FOG2 has been in place for many years and whilst not perfect it works.
  7. What I said might not cover your issue? If the game was truly completed by both players then no T should IMO have been issued. There might be a bug or an unintended consequence of what has been implemented with the CM game family. I would wait until Elvis has the time to explain it from his POV. BTW did you see the final results screen?
  8. Gents I have had a crack at explaining the Time Out feature in the General Forum. I suggest we use the General Forum thread to deal with issues that affect all of the periods. The T timeout feature is not perfect but it's the only way to show who has been sat on turns the longest during the whole course of the game.
  9. No a T means the game didn't complete and of the two players the one who had the turns in his inbox the longest is deemed to have been the slowest player and penalised. Think of it like a chess clock, the time is running down against you as soon as the turn lands in your mailbox. It's not great but it's the only metric that can easily be applied to assess who should get points if a game doesn't complete. So yes the turn could be awaiting your opponents response, but overall the amount of time has been greater in your inbox than your opponents. Elvis is no doubt wrestling with a decent explanation of this, I will see if I can lift some text from the FOG2 forums to help explain.
  10. Folk did not know that they had to Ceasefire... You will always get a % of no shows. The 80/20 rule... An oppo stopping turns as they start to lose is not great and the CM system of scoring points will always fail to deal with such problems. There is a bit of mitigation with the chess clock system showing they (if they did) wasted more time...
  11. 476 points rather than 80 points... Not sure how they were worked out. Both games did not complete and I held the farm as the Germans and did not manage to take the farm as the Allies but I was up against the farm hedge line ready for the final push... Next game I am again against some one who is new to the game and slitherine and has a handle of Dukals1848 which might be @Dukal? Anyway lets see how many Shermans I lose..... Onwards and maybe upwards...
  12. AHH I see Elvis was typing as I was. I await the outcome with interest. My opponent has not sent any turns since Friday and before that I was lucky to get 1 a day. So my hope to hit the cease fire button is likely to come to naught...
  13. If I had a £1 for every time I heard that, from those I have managed IT projects for, I would be very rich. I will leave it to Elvis to decide if he wants to adopt your suggestion. Maybe it's really easy....
  14. Eniced73 has valid concerns and if they can be addressed then you are more likely to get your wish to play more CM games Vs humans. If you are running a tournament scores do matter to the players. Let's hope with some tweaks it can be enhanced.
  15. Hmmm how would you code that? Would you ask Charles to code that in the game ahead of any other work? Are you asking for some one to manually review each tourney game at the end? BTW - I do get your point but the CM games and the scoring system just might not suit tourney play. FOG2 is I think the top tier of tourney play and they have the best of breed approach to many of these issues. I am glad Elvis is looking at that to see what can be done if anything. FOG2 has player to player comms nailed. At the start of every turn you get a text message area to read what the other player has said to you and then at the end of the turn you get the chance to reply and send text back. This was clearly designed and implemented into the code. FOG2 has a clean method to deal with players that don't send turns and allocates points to those players that did send turns in a timely manner. (Not sure if this is code for the PBEM module - which is what Elvis is checking (I guess)). So yes it is unfair on those players that did not get any turns sent to them, in effect they are likely out of contention. Yes it is unfair for those players that don't enable a CeaseFire before the tourney round ends, in effect they are likely out of contention. The round ends on Wednesday morning I had hoped a simple e-mail would help lift some players out of one of the issues, but we are dealing with different support teams, different time zones, different views on how to achieve things, different works schedules and workloads... Such is life... We can offer solutions but they have to be able to be implemented. I hope in round 2 I get a completed game but who knows I could be paired with someone who gets frustrated that they are out of contention and just don't bother playing... Such is life... (1st world problem compared to some other serious **** happening at the moment around the world...)
  16. Thanks it's a limited number of customers and hopefully not seen as spam. Fingers crossed
  17. Pity as it is super crucial information that if not communicated will affect the enjoyment of the customers playing the tournament. Without that information some players might not feel like it is worth continuing. FOG2 uses tournaments to drive up player engagement and they seem to have a gold standard of how they clearly communicate the scoring and way the tournament works. Anyway all I can do is flag the issue. Cheers
  18. Great a reminder e-mail on Monday would be very useful and could really help folk especially if it clearly lays out why doing a Cease Fire will help both players. BTW - I got the other e-mail and yes some folk won't get it or even act on it but the 80/20 rule applies and even in worse case 20% of those getting the e-mail will be in a better position or it could be 80%. So worth doing please... Cheers
  19. I am not sure Elvis can do anything about players not undertaking turns. I think it would need coding and I bet that has not been done. With FOG2 the system assess who has not sent turns in a timely manner and awards points to the player that has. For those not aware of how FOG2 handles it here is the standard text for every tourney. https://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=113282 While this is not perfect as folk in the wrong time zone can have more time clocked against them it does at least keep those who send turns back quickly in with a chance of getting into the top group of players. I would hope that Battlefront would do something similar if at all possible? As for the Slitherine message system it does work but only if the oppo has it set up to forward e-mails to them or they bother to check the forum system. As many folk don't even know there is a forum message system this is why it does not work. Look on the top right of the Slitherine Forum page to see notifications and messages. As the person playing has set up a Slitherine user name you can try and contact them that way.
  20. @BFCElvis Hi not sure if you have seen the thread lately and could I suggest an e-mail is sent to all players a couple of days before the end of round one. Along the lines of Dear Player you might not be aware of the scoring system being used which means that if the scenario has not been completed it is in both players interest to take the Ceasefire Option before the end of the round at 08:00 UTC 25-10-2023. BOTH Players need to have taken the Cease Fire option and turns processed for this to take effect and for Both players to score maxium points. Of course if the files can be processed as an assumed Cease fire by the system then no need, but I bet that has not been coded so it is at least fair to warn everyone via the e-mail reminder. Just my 2p... Also please can we update any new Tourney invites text to clearly explain how scoring works if the scenario is not completed by the end of the round?
  21. Thanks Andrew, I have found a way within in Slitherine system to e-mail the oppo I hope he picks up and sees my e-mail. We are averaging a turn a day and have I think 16 left to do plus or minus so it seems like we will have to do a CF... This really does need to be clearly stated in the Tourney text if it is not there?
  22. Thanks for the response, not sure what 3-1 outcomes mean? So what you think is that it's better to CF to get more points. As I have no idea who my oppo is and I can't get the in game chat working not sure if my oppo knows that. Also it's not mentioned in the tournament text, if what you are saying is the best way to resolve not completing the games, which it really should be IMO.
  23. Hmmm what happens if players don't do a ceasefire and the round ends with turns left to play?
  24. From my memory marking mines doesn't disarm them so if you move troops into marked minefield they can still die... Is the in game chat working and if so what key is it? I can't make it out on text on my computer as too small... And old age...
