Another erratic pathfinding bug

Recommended Posts

From the "Die Letzte Hoffnung" DAR thread, I found this bug during one of my turns.

Here are the orders given. The unit of interest is the one selected, given a simple quick move order into a nearby building (I note that one of the men from the squad - which are meant to be lurking outside another building - seems to be inside it as the turn starts).

What actually happens is that three of the men decide to go for a jog around the houses. Here is one of them - the other two have gone to the other side of those houses.

Here they are. One of them has got himself killed, which isn't a bug exactly :S

The quick move order to a nearby building seems to have turned into some bizarre assault order to who knows where. I have a save of the replay available.

I can't tell you how many times I've seen troops expose themselves to fire entering buildings by going around the building and ignoring the safe route inside via an obvious door.

On top of that the designers have never heard of entering a building through a ground floor window, which is a good idea when the opposite side of the building is in the enemy's LOS/LOF.

I had that happen recently on that map too. The only real casualties I got were becuase of that. They ran right around and got nailed by a HMG. Here is the thread "Magician units" that has some nice close ups of their dumb ass's sprawled out all over the road on the opposite side of where the door was.

What can you do, but drive on. Its just one of those stupid things that happens every now and then. It's a bug like all games have. For the most part I don't experience too many problems with path finding. I have found that usually more plot marks are better then less for smoother pathing.
