noxnoctum
I'm looking for info on the makeup of your average infantry squad+platoon+company at Stalingrad from the different formations present there (in terms of armament), anyone know where I can find this info? thanks
Magpie_Oz
This is what the Germans are supposed to have but I reckon combat losses would have pretty quickly turned the "organisation" into more of a dog's breakfast. http://bayonetstrength.com/german_army/ger_inf_bat_39_42 You can find other nationalities at this site too

Sgt Joch
I have been plowing through Glantz's latest book "Armageddon in Stalingrad" which focuses on the urban fighting in september-november. Most German units were already not up to 100% TO&E because of previous operations from may to august, although the best would have been at 70-80%. However, just a few days of fighting took most units to below 50%. It was even worse for the Russians. Many full strength units were ground down to 20-30% strength in a few days. In both cases, the surviving units would be left on the line to carry on. Few units received replacements.
