Indirect Fire with Infantry Guns: why "No Line of Fire"-message?

Recommended Posts

I'm wondering, what are parameters for infantry guns, that they can shoot, if the spotter has clear LOS to the target and the distance to the target in the open is a few hundred meters, too?

I always see the message, that there was no line of fire. Time in the battle is running out due to driving around all time and searching for new positions. :D

Are you trying to do inderect fire with the infantry gun(s). They aren't mortars. They have a minimum as well as a maximum range. The target may well be too close to them and they can't elevate high enough to target that area.

A few hundred meters still too close?

Could be. I don't have the figures handy, but I did look them up once, and iirc the minimum range for high-angle fire for both the 75mm and 150mm IGs is over 500 meters.

Theoretically, gun crews might be able to shorten the high-angle min. range by deploying on a slope. I don't know if the game models this at all, but I doubt it.
