Statisoris
How easy would it be to create a mod that changes the ground icon for land mines from the "bear claw" to a base that shows the exact area covered by one placed "unit" of mines? It would make placing and marking mines an easier task. Also, I'm assuming that one unit of mines covers one action square? Would anyone be willing to create this small mod? I would experiment and make it myself but I don't have the time to get into it these days b/c of 2 kids under 2 years old here :/
Oddball_E8
i dont think it would be possible since the bear claw is for all troops and you would have to make it larger (witch i dont think is possible to begin with) and then all the bear claws would be lager (for infantry and vehicles alike)
mjkerner
Also, I'm assuming that one unit of mines covers one action square? I assumed the opposite--that each "unit" is only one mine because you can pack alot of them into one action square. I've asked before, but have never gotten a definitive answer. Anyone?
Juju
I've learned the hard way that a single mine marker on an action spot can down several men in separate explosions, so I think each unit is a field covering the entire action spot. Once in the road to Montebourg I've seen an action spot containing two mine markers. I could mark one, but the other refused to 'get marked' even after extended attention from some engineers. I needed the engineers elsewhere so didn't investigate the double marker thing any further.
mjkerner
Thanks for information, juju. I have never encountered them in a scenario yet, but in one I've been making (and not yet tested) I placed all 10 in about two action spots thinking they were individual mines. Better go back and clean that one up!
Statisoris
It wouldn't make sense for u to be able to purchase a set of 10 individual mines, think about it. They are definitely 10 small mine fields. Don't know for sure how much area they cover though, Im just guessing.
dieseltaylor
I am surprised that thye are a "mine field". In a game I played two squads wafted right through and one guy in the third squad got hit. When I say wafted through they just did not know the minefield existed.
sdp
I think a mine field covers an entire action spot and there´s a certain percentage of risk that a unit will set of mines if it passes through that action spot. Thus, it is possible - but not very likely - that a unit might actually have the fortune of avoiding all mines put in the area, while another one isn´t so lucky. Just me guessing too.
blow56
Are mines in CMBN the same as CMSF? In other words - engineers don't remove them and frequently blow themselves up even marking them?
Juju
They only get marked, not removed. So far I've only seen engineers get blown up while they're crawling around and accidentally set off mines in an action spot other than the one they're currently marking.
RockinHarry
Definitely a minefield, not single mine. No idea if a field can be thickened, by placing more than 1 field into the same action spot though. Would be nice to see german "bouncing betties", or more difficult to "mark" glass and wooden box mines.
