phil stanbridge
Can't wait to get my hands on this - but I've a nasty feeling it will turn up as my baby is born! hehe.. But anyway, I'll pre-order as soon as poss. Also, did I hear it was mac compatible?
c3k
4-8 weeks is my guesstimate, so put it around February, either early or late. Given a tweak or two late in the release cycle, I'd GUESS I'll be playing CM:N with a beer by St. Patrick's Day.
phil stanbridge
The pre-order is normally 4-8 weeks prior to release I thought? So in theory pre-order should be around now. I'm thinking the game will hit the virtual shelves at the end of Feb.
Michael Emrys
Also, did I hear it was mac compatible? Steve's words as close as I can recall them were that a Mac version would be released at the same time as the PC version. Now, there may be a certain elasticity in the meaning of the words "at the same time", but at least it seems to be in the works and well on the way. scottie
thats the biggest question for me too Phil , when can we pass over our hard earned cash. Great the see the website up , looking amazing, can see endless hours of games play here, really want to start throwing cash at BF
Ankh Morpork
I'd gladly pay loads for this game as long as it's more like the old CM games rather than CM:CF. Speaking of it - I hope they menu system is more like the old ones too, CM:CF had a really weird menu system when giving orders. Thought it was abit stupid to change an already good system.
Surrender Monkey
I'd be thrilled to fork out my hard-earned money for a new Combat Mission game. As an avid CMBO,CMBB and CMAK fan , who lost my faith when CMSF arrived (yet have continued to play the original series) - I'd be happy to pay full price even if it was CMBB with a revamped gfx-engine. I am eagerly awaiting the demo - and expect myself to pre-order one (or even several copies). My only fear however, is that CM:BN will put aside the trusted command menu of CMBB in favour of the one in seen in CMSF. Afterall, the news of a new ww2 era Combat Mission has reignited my interest
LJFHutch
Well the CM series just keeps on getting better and better, you bet I'll be pre-ordering
phil stanbridge
I think it's more or less a dead cert that the menu system will be more 'cmsf' like than cmx1. It's a logical step in my opinion. Although some of the commands will have to be implemented more WWII than modern day, the cmsf menu system does work very well for me. I admit it did take a while to adjust, but I'm glad I have spent the time on it, as my integration with Normandy should be a very smooth affair. My mate couldn't get on with SF at all, and he didn't like the menu system either, but now he's cursing because he wants to get into the new game but doesn't want the associated learning curve that comes with it. So it will be interesting to see how he adopts to it. I'm buying it for him regardless, so he can't moan.

I will re-install CMSF and for one reason only; to get used to the menu system in time for the release of CM:BN.

If the friend hasn't played it for a while, they might be interested in the "space bar" menu system that came in a while after ver 1.0 went to market. I know that seemed to make the menus more user friendly to many people.
Pandur
why all the fuss about the UI? yes it is quiet unintuitive to learn and use but you dont have to use it after all. you have the option of using the UI as it is OR you can edit the hotkeys.txt and use a single hotkey for a sinlgle comand, as it was in CMx1. so please dont complain about the UI any longer but read up on how you can make the UI work for you. its a matter of minutes to get the commands to CMx1 standards. EDIT: there was enough complaining bout the UI in 2007 already, BFC gave us the absolute commands with the hotkeys.txt. so what you want more actually?
Sakai007
The menu system in CMSF was tough for me to get used to as well, but now that I have the gist of it, it is almost as intuitive as the older style. The original reminds me of Close Combat in the right click menu, and that is just dead easy for anyone. The new commands available in CMSF are the selling point for me, and it means that new features can be added without confusion for players since they just go in one of four categories. I like it, but thats just me.
Aragorn2002
After playing CMSF (and boy, did I hesitate) I will pre-order CMN without thinking twice. I'ms sure it will make us forget lots of other games. I'm also very interested in the Arnhem module. The future does look bright.
