Colin I
There is a WWI picture of a shell going off a few meters from the photographer. The guy died but his camera, amazingly, was intact. Its a creepy picture (b/w) when you know the story.
Bill101
Interesting, any idea on where we can find it?
Colin I
Bill - think I just found it - emailed to you at Fury. Now trying to remember the source.
Bill101
Thanks Colin! That is a very eerie picture what with the man's hands in the air as the shell explodes.
Stalins Organ
Try googling http://www.greatwardifferent.com - for some reason the index page to the site doesn't work - but the top 5 or 6 google results are pages from it. The site takes a very different look at WW1 - including anti-war literature, lots of photos, IIRC there were pages on prostitution for the troops & various other unusual topics. Without the index page working I'm not sure how much of it is still around tho Edit: Fortunately there is a copy of hte index that seems to work - use this (& added the link to the prostitution iintro page....)
