Ammo for AK's

It's confusing which AK's use 5.56 and which use 7.62. This is critical when deciding what ammo to resupply with.

This is the sort of info that would be useful in the manuals. But, here's what I have found including optimal ranges:

5.56mm: Optimal range

AK74 500m

AKS74 500m

RPK 74 (can only fire fully auto) 300-400m

7.62mm:

SVD 600m

PKM (MG) 1,000m

AKM 300-400m

RPK (auto only) 300-400m

RPD 800m

Note that: SVD/PKM use 7.62x54R

RPG 29 (rocket) 500m

AK-74, AKS-74, and RPK-74 use 5.45x39mm.

Just some clarification.

SVD/PKM use 7.62x54R

Big difference in performance.

In game terms, so what? Was only concerned re what to resupply with when they run out. But thanks re the different types of 7.62 as I think the different ammos are available in vehicles and that was very confusing. Once again, the manual is just not as helpful as it could/should.

This is expected to be common knowledge among CM customers

It would be great if the UI could display unusable ammunition greyed out. This helps to avoid picking up the wrong ammunition (e.g. javelins if there is no javelin launcher in the unit)

good idea. when i was a newbie that was a big frustration. even now I find a list of weapons and what ammo they us to be useful.
