Zimorodok
Ah, sigh, i have an older video card, in a newer computer. CMBB runs fine, but no fog. How do I turn the fog on? I have an Athlon 64x2 5000 chipset, ASUS Crosshair Board, 4 GB of Ram, and i'm running Vista Home Premium. When i upgraded to Vista, the fog disappeared. Please help or somefink! Zimorodok.
Ellros
Separate Nvidia video card? Or Nvidia integrated graphics? You need to enable "fog tables" in the Nvidia options. It must be an Nvidia chipset. ATI cards won't show the fog
Der Alte Fritz
Actually ATI cards now do show fog, if you update your drivers.
Zimorodok
It's a separate card. I don't see where to enable the 'fog table'. I looked in the nVidia options, but there wasn't anything about fog. i can just go buy a new card. This one is pretty old. Is there a card that shows CMBB pretty well?
Philippe
Read the last couple of posts in the CMC threads before you buy anything. It sounds like certain combinations work and certain others don't.
Der Alte Fritz
Hi Zimorodok With regard to what works with CMBB/AK and what does not it basically boils down to XP/VISTA and DirectX 9/10. Any card Nvidia 8000 series or above or ATI 2000 or 3000 series card or above will not work properly with CMBB/AK in either XP or Vista. DirectX 10 cards Nvidia 7000 series or ATI 9000 series will run it on XP but not Vista. DirectX 9 cards. These cards will also run CMSF. Nvidia 6000 or below and ATI 8000 or earlier will run it much better. CMBB is DirectX 5 which is now 6 years old and the newer cards do not support it. cheers
Der Alte Fritz
Just bought a new computer and a Nvidia 7900GT and will post how I get on. Please note all ATI cards with the new 7.12 drivers will support fog.
Boo Radley
I have a Radeon 9500 Pro/9700 and I used to have fog when I first installed it, but when I did a wipe and reload of Windows XP, it went away. All my drivers are up to date and I haven't been able to figure out what happened. Any clues?
Zimorodok
ah. sigh. I didn't read when I should've read. I bought an 8800GT, and, surprise, surprise, CMBB is mighty slow. Oh darn. At least I can still play it on my laptop, and my old XP machine.
TufenHuden
I've Asus-8800GTS 320/640mb cards- I'm running XP-pro SP-2 and Nvidia's latest drivers 171.16's and I've fog. I boils down to vista-Direct X-10. But 8800 type cards can run fog. All 3 CM/BO/BB/AK work properly on mine.
