  1. ah. sigh. I didn't read when I should've read. I bought an 8800GT, and, surprise, surprise, CMBB is mighty slow. Oh darn. At least I can still play it on my laptop, and my old XP machine.
  2. It's a separate card. I don't see where to enable the 'fog table'. I looked in the nVidia options, but there wasn't anything about fog. i can just go buy a new card. This one is pretty old. Is there a card that shows CMBB pretty well?
  3. Ah, sigh, i have an older video card, in a newer computer. CMBB runs fine, but no fog. How do I turn the fog on? I have an Athlon 64x2 5000 chipset, ASUS Crosshair Board, 4 GB of Ram, and i'm running Vista Home Premium. When i upgraded to Vista, the fog disappeared. Please help or somefink! Zimorodok.
  4. I have "Vista Home Premium" on my desktop and laptop, and it runs CMAK and CMBB just fine. I have widescreen monitors, so everything is a little elongated (neither CMx1 game is prepared for screens that aren't in the normal dimensions). But I've had no other issues.
  5. I was just happy to be able to order the darn thing. And I'm quite happy to give my $45 to Moon et al. I play their games (CMBB/CMAK) daily, I definately feel that I got WAAAAY more than my money's worth years ago. 4/18 is fine with me.
  6. Not to beggar the obvious, but where can you buy the Russian full game online? All I want to know is if Mrs Zimorodok can buy TOW for me for Christmas. That's all I want to know. Zimorodok
  7. ....I've done that very same tactic in CMBB with Somuas/pz38(t)'s vs KV-1. I will actually admit to spinning in opposite concentric circles (that really confuses the KV-1 gunner). All one has to do is drive faster than the gun can rotate (so you have to be sort of close....) 'Gamey' I believe the word is to decribe that, and I will completely admit to it. It would not have been a survivable, logical or realistic tactic in the presence of lots of AT guns or other opposing tanks. This game shown in this video uses hit points? That's sort of dumb. I much prefer the CM method of damage calculation.
  8. Riceball, what software are these for? I definately agree with Junk2Drive, those pics would make terrific screensavers (or even printed out an put on the wall). I coulda guessed Missouri, I just drove through there on my way out to Colorado 2 weeks ago and the trees looked just like that. Cheers! Zimorodok
  9. Actually, none of my mods are up there (silly me), but there's some REALLY GREAT stuff by the aforementioned Gurra, MikeyD, Patboy, Dey, et al. www.zimorodok.org
  10. They can be good for breaking up counter attacks. (let the FT's come up behind your advancing troops (usu. just the engineers they came with, engineers are faster than FT's, so it's logical that the FT's will be behind your advance line), if the enemy counterattacks, fall back quickly and let the enemy rush unprepared into your FT's. Sometimes you can get crossfire with two or more. Breaks infantry attacks nicely. On offense, they are very hard to use, but can be used in special circumstances. I've used Ft's to destroy a supressed MG nest in woods/pines. I get all my troops to area fire the MG till he ducks, then rush the FT forward (who has been waiting 5 yards beyond what the MG can see, but still within 30 or so yards) and zap him. Normally the MG will either bolt or surrender. Of course, if the MG nest has correct overwatch, they need to be supressed as well. I've also had some success in using FT's to attack enemy just over a ridgeline/cliff/ditch. I'm in the ditch, enemy up top (shooting down, or can't see me but close to edge) i set my FT to area fire up to the edge of the ditch. Area fire being what it is, fire goes everywhere on to the other side. Usually you can get the enemy to abandon position at least. Best use for FT's that I've seen is flaming tanks. Not always 100% effective, but the percentage is very high, and it's more effective than most other infantry AT assets. Even one good gout of flame is enough to shock or immobilize the worst tank (IS-2, KT, Churchill). Plus, it's fun. And rough on the crew when they abandon the tank. Yes, Wasps and SPW-251/16's are far more effective. As far as survivability, chose tight terrain, choose darkness, choose a foolish enemy. If you can. If I get a Steppe Map Mid-Day QB, my FT's hide and stay that way. Usually there's nothing you can do. Zimorodok.

  19. Hello all, do you know where i could find the unit (vehicle) availability spreadsheet(s) for CMAK? I have the ones for CMBB, but i don't know where the CMAK ones reside (you know, the ones that say "May 1941, Germans have PzIIC, PzIIIG,H and J(short) etc etc) Zimorodok
  20. Juan... I'd never comment on how the English spell their own language! You've got to remember, the rest of us (Newfies, Yanks, Kiwis and Ozzies) are just borrowing the language from them (and i'm sure the English feel like we're the drunk neighbor who inevitably drives over the hedge shears a few times before giving it back!) until the Pax Britannica returns. tongue-firmly-in-cheek Zimorodok (Denver, USA)
