Cantona66
It looks very promising after briefly reading through the manual, focusing on the NEW features (good idea to mark these) For me these looks to be the most interesting ones: -Bombers and surface ships to attack convoys,-Reports -Extra hot keys -Posibility to add MPP´s to DE´s And the Alliance of evil also sound good. I CAN´T WAIT!
jon_j_rambo
What does DE stand for?
Cantona66
One question, as i have understood it, GLOBAL would introduce the feature that high tech units attacking each other would cancel themselves out and not take som much hits, i can find that in the manual, but it´s there right? Snowstorm
I agree with you, JJR. Even reading just the highlighted "New" sections will take quite a bit of time.......good way for Hubert to keep us occupied with game issues.
Brian the Dane
My favorite part of the announcement is that we now know that Global will be coming out in the first quarter of 2010. This means 75 days yet to go, and that's at max. With the rule book out, I'm thinking it's less. I can't remember looking forward to a new game release as much as this one, in a very very long time. If ever.
JerseyJohn
Great job, Hubert. Read the whole thing in the wee hours this morning. Very interesting treatments of the military, economic, diplomatic and other elements, such as weather! I like the concept of reducing France to an Allied Minor and Italy to an Axis Minor, with China on the other side of the world being an Allied Major. At first I thought this was the wrong way of doing it but it makes sense as China fought Japan by itself for several years and had much more endurance than either France or Italy. Also like many of the unit tweeks, such as actual surface raiders like the Graf Spee and the killer merchantmen. And the distinction between transports and amphibious transports, new elite specialist units. All kinds of excellent concepts. Particularly liked the editor which looks much more user friendly than the one in Blitzkrieg, but as I said elsewhere, at the time I attempted to make scenarios in that game I had a very slow and limited computer that crashed too often. It ought to be fun working on scenarios here using a new computer. Glad you mentioned elsewhere that this game will work well on Windows 7. Back to the editor, it looks as though it may also be possible to create reliable hypothetical game situations for the 1930s and 1920s, such as WWI erupting c.1920 instead of 1914. But, of course, I'm looking forward to playing your own 1939 campaign scenario a few times before attempting anything with the editor. Worth the wait, Hubert. Bravo!:)
jon_j_rambo
This is Legend. I just forgot something, I've never read a manual for any of the SC's. I love the rawness of a game that doesn't take a college course to figure out. Or a bunch of crap to learn. Reading manuals are good for some. Not Reading manuals has been even better for me. This is all in terms of my proven victories & strategies. My battle record is untarnished. jon_j_rambo
Right, and all those fascinating mods you created. Playing the game has nothing to with "Mods". Is that a requirement for you? I've never wanted to make a mod, nor do I. Elvis Presley never wrote a song, yet his the king of rock 'n roll. Jesus Christ never told anybody to "write a book" about him, so does that mean he failed because he didn't get a precious New York Best seller? The competitive gamers, who have jobs, want something completely different. We like to buy a game & play it. Not everybody likes to sit around drawing maps with a mouse while getting inside the minds of Nazis. Every release, the competitive gamers are only concerned with the "default" scenario. With SC-1, I cracked the game in one sitting. Obviously, the editors, and testers failed. SC-2 was next to be cracked, it was soon slanted to Axis. SC-Pacific had major issues too, got me banned matter of fact. Sir Jersey, you don't even play competitely, that's your choice. You'd rather talk about Nazi Germany & dream of their victory. Well, they weren't going to win, get over it. So don't tell me what I want as customer. With the retirement of Terif, I'm #1, it's simple as that. By the way, I played over 40+ games of SC-Pacific, most of them were of Vypuero's World Campaign. I know more about the "Global" gaming then you ever will. Vypuero & myself created an absolutely AWESOME balanced game with your precious editor. Repeat, don't tell me what I want as customer. -Legend
jon_j_rambo
@Sir Jersey --- And also, I've tried 90% of the mods made, they suck, there's no play balance or testing. I can crack them in 2 tries. SC-1 default, SC-2 default, SC-Pacific, etc...... Vypuero's World Campaign is AWESOME, because I played it 30+ times. That's called testing all the strategies, son. Sir Jersey, stick to making up history. You never played a game of SC in 7 years, let alone a competive game. So don't jump on me what I want in gaming. I've played 200+ games of SC total, to your 3. You want to take me on Mr. Historian? Pick the Mod, make a Mod or whatever...or just pick a side, I'll pick the Mod. Bring it on, -Legend
xwormwood
Hey guys, come on, take it easy. We have a good thing going here, let us not start a fight brother against brother, about nearly nothing. Each one of you has a point, why not let us remember that we all have out flaws, and learn to ingore the one or the other sentence, after all we know each other pretty good. JJR knows that Sir Jersey doesn't adore AH, and Sir Jersey knows about JJR integrity and love for the competitive game, the USA and his Lord. It would be a shame if this quarrel would go on, truly a shame. And it hurts somewhat to read it, as well, because it is such an unbelievable waste of a long lasting friendship. "Peace for our time", pleeeease!

For those of us who DO appreciate all the effort Hubert put into this, this new manual certainly offers alot of great new information on what seems an exciting new game. I can't wait. JerseyJohn
I didn't start it. I have a troll posting everywhere I post trying to aggravate me. In response to his last bit of garbage I can only say for someone who's fond of quoting scripture he seems to have missed this one: He who exalts himself shall be humbled. As for playing this character, no, I made it clear from the start I play 1) People I like 2) People with class I don't play 1) Egotistic wind bags. 2) Braggarts who go around defaming their oppenents and others. Go back to (2) above, people with class. Which excludes those who don't have any.

Snowstorm
Hubert, I must commend you and the team for all of the great (and many!) Decision Events in the new game manual. What's wrong with Sgt. Stryker in Sands of Iwo Jima? I've never quoted John Wayne once in my life, let alone on the website. On the contrary, I love Band of Brothers, Full Metal Jacket, Patton, Saving Private Ryan, Longest Day, etc. Matter of fact, look at my signature, quoting BoB.
