Nazi symbols...

Recommended Posts

I agree with Gorgin, I want the full meal deal....burgers, fries, coke, and the symbols.

US Civil War game still use the Confederate Flag, and that certainly isn't policially correct, but it is historical correct (and legal, well in USA).

@pzgndr --- Dude, is your A3R mod goes with what version of SC?

hey guys, i've got a solution:

the original game you can buy in a shop is without symbols. and for these guys who likes to have symbols, they can download a special patch, which allows you to set the game up!

hope you know what i mean, english is not my motherlanguage.

I would prefer acurate game mechanics.

Honestly, when i was younger i wanted those symbols as well.

But than i thought about it a bit and finaly changed my mind.

I play the Axis side, but not the Nazi side.

I want to win with the Axis power, but not with or for the evil idology of the Nazis.

I don't want to use a game where i take up those symbols which stand for the Holocaust. I can live and play with the symbols of the german army, but not with the symbols of the NSDAP.

I play to fight a war, not to fulfill the disgusting aims of the Hitlers party.

Of course, Hitler enforced his Nazi symbols to the Wehrmacht, but nevertheless i would always prefer the Balkenkreuz, which was used before and after Hitler.

Where shall acuracy start, and where shall it end?

And do you want a game about WW2, or do you want to play a game, in which you try to let the nazis win?

Without Nazi symbols you can play and enjoy the game, without having to think about why exactly you know out of the blue are trying to help the most evil ideas the world has ever known toward victory.

We don't need swastikas in the game, what good would they bring which we can't achieve with the Balkencross (iron cross)?

Finaly: I play gamed like SC / SC2 not because of the fancy graphics -and i doubt anyone does- but because of the game mechanics.

So why this fanatical swastika fetish?

xwormwood since you are from Germany I can certainly see your point, but if you look up the history of the Swastika you may change your mind.

I personally have no problem with it being there since it was worn on all the german armed forces.Like it or not.As far as sales in Germany go well then I can see your point.

I notice the rising sun is on all the Japanese units. They were no better(and sometime worse)than the nazis in the way they treated people.

This posting is to the point. Lets go fore the game mechanics, the game itself. I would like to play the greatest WW2 game that is. I would not be a part of a roleplaying where the aim is NSDAP ore Nazi Germany.

What kind of elements would we like to have in a game? Labour camps? No, lets go fore a game where the elements are pure strategy. Fore the other bit, lets go fore a patch, so that everyone could have their cup of tea.

This posting is to the point.

No, this whole thread is an unnecessary distraction. Of all the things to talk about regarding this new release, bringing up a potentially inflammatory discussion about (editable) bitmap graphic symbols and whether WWII wargames are allowed to be historically accurate or not is totally missing the point of Strategic Command WWII Global Conflict.

I agree that the point of SCWWII is to be a great game. It seems that the GC would be the greatest game there is...

But any kind of activity represents some kind of ethics, etc. Sir, you show some lack of thought when it comes to your comment of "unnecessary distraction".

Anything that has something to do with WW2 should be judged against ethical and human standards.

And i dont like fascist/nazi symbols wether is displayed in a game, in music, litterature, etc.

I have stated my mind, others have theirs - some have taken the point quite good / and better than me.

I have said mine now, end of discussion.

How about we change this discussion to graphics? Specifically unit counters or sprites. I ran across some really well done counters by Scytth, you all need to take a look at them.

Go to www.twitter.com/WstlInteractive and take a look at the referal to Scytth's counters. Might be a nice alternative, something along these lines for SCG, although I do prefer the sprites.
