meade95
Some Marine unites (when possible) switched over to M4's while conducting MOUT operations in Iraq - Is there any chance we could get an Marine Fire Team outfitted with M4 (instead of M16) along with the SAWs and Mk-32s....? Some Marines in CMSF do carry the M4 (MG teams have 1 or 2 guys, so does the GL Team). But I would like to be able to have fire team using M4s for QCB..... If possibe.... It would just add a slight bit more custom-ability (with realism).
Field Marshal Blücher
Hmm . . . so maybe a Marines MOUT Infantry Battalion kind of like the Stryker and Combined Arms MOUT Battalions? Sounds interesting . . .

Sounds interesting . . . Yes. Something along those lines. Having one of the dedicated fire-teams (from the infantry Bat) be carrying M4s instead of 16s.
Clavicula_Nox
I don't have Marines yet, but is there a noticeable difference between the reaction times of soldiers armed with M4s and Marines armed with M16s?
purpheart23
No there is not. But there is definitely an accuracy difference with the M-16A4 over the M-4, as there should be. Currently my weapon is an M-4 but I would love to take my old 16 back into combat. Just a better distance rifle for obvious reasons.

Granted a better distance weapon.....But not better for MOUNT operations - Again, why those Marines that could used M4 (variants) in Iraq when possible. It would be nice if CM could provide this option.
jenrick
M4's are handier and lighter in a CQB situation. Short stocking a M16A2 was not a practice I particularly enjoyed using when I learned how to do it. -Jenrick
John Kettler
meade95, USMC M4, one ea. here. Be careful what you wish for! http://pinoyhistory.proboards22.com/index.cgi?board=museums&action=post&thread=415"e=2563&page=1 Couldn't resist. jenrick, This M4's neither, but it commands attention. That said, how you get it into the AAV is your affair. Regards, John Kettler
jenrick
Lol, nice John. Would have made clearing rooms a little easier, one HE round to each floor and call it a day. -Jenrick
John Kettler
jenrick, Either that, or just drive through the building! Do Iraqi buildings have basements? Regards, John Kettler
MikeyD
Actually, what was that earlier thread about the new Marine MOUT weapon possibly being assigned one-per-squad? It sounded pretty much like a heavy-barrel M16 that's got a full auto function. Like a 5.56 BAR. In other words the opposite direction of the little M4! Marines definitely do follow a different drummer.
