You've got to be kidding me......a decent war-game that actually let's you play with France '40 units? Did someone forget to tell 1C and Battlefront that all WWII games must be ETO '44 and somehow still omit about 50% of the vehicles available during even that narrow period? Thanks BF for picking this up, I've been following this one since the Codemasters days. It really needed to be fronted by a company that does wargames, not racing games. Good times........ Lt Bull Posted July 31, 2006 Share Posted July 31, 2006 I distinctly remember when the first screenies of WW2 RTS were first published and thinking how great it would be if BTS could somehow "buy/license" the graphcial engine/3D world from 1C and use it for the next gen CM release. BTS excel at making great wargames, 1C excel at awesome detailed historical graphics/animations/modelling with a specialisation in WW2 (see IL2 series). Get the two together, best of both worlds....what a great marriage! You would have BTS doing all the hard game coding free of the burden of modelling and texturing tanks and trucks and uniforms etc. (which I know took up much of their time) and 1C doing what they do best, making stunning detailed graphics and animations with attention to historical detail and accuracy. Well this is kind of a marriage of sorts, but more like a "no real sex right now (-> kids :eek: ), lets just fool around for a while and just be friends and see if things work out first" kind of relationship. I say enough of the small talk, just do it now and GIT IT ON! Lt Bull PS: For the record, I do actually remember notice of the WW2 RTS screenies being posted at the BTS Forums. I may have made the comment that the bar had certainly been lifted as far as grpahical expectations go for any future CM release. And I also recall someone from BTS made a comment along the lines of "Bah! CMx2 will be BETTER than that". The way things are looking that might just be the case. Lt Bull Posted July 31, 2006 Share Posted July 31, 2006 Actually come to think of it, this BTS/1C relationship to me sounds more something like the Brady Bunch. Both BTS and 1C have basically gone at it alone as single parents raising unique wonderful offspring (CMBO, CMBB, CMAK for BTS and IL2, PF etc for 1C) full of depth and integrity in a world that seems to just keep pumping out tacky, shallow, B-grade Hollywood style quick fix/quick buck clones that really just want to dazzle you with special effects. Everyone thought "wouldn't it be nice if they both hitched up together". As it turns out, they did just as 1C was about to give birth to yet another offspring, ToW. Now BTS is not officially a parent, but more like a concerned step father there to offer good advice, a steady hand and guidance. Now they are not rushing off making kids of their own just yet. They are waiting to see how things turn out with ToW first. Will they actually get in the sack together and start pumping out kids of their own flesh and blood some time in the future? Who knows. But never in the history of wargames will the world eagerly anticipate just how a creature made of a union of two superstar entities will turn out to be like...well, not since Brad and Angelina decided to go at it.
