Morale

Nice website, guys. The bit about morale caught my eye: "Advanced human psychological modeling (morale)". What sort of "advanced modeling" are you incorporating? Will green troops get nervous and flighty hearing the battle nearby, when not actually being engaged? Will undisciplined units run for their lives if they feel their line of retreat is threatened? Well we be able to actually "target" the morale of our opponent, rather than seek to physically destroy him?

"I'm positive they mean if war protests... get too loud...fragging will go way up."

Oh yeh, war protests = fragging. Would have nothing at all to do with endemic PTSD. If this CMSF Syria war doesn't come with 'hippie protestors' standard I'm sure someone will mod them in order to have somebody handy to blame.

About moral in CMSF, CMx1 has a pretty decent moral 'engine' already. You can get an opponent to break, to surrender, to cower in his foxhole, and even to jump up & charge forward while cheering (in CMBB)!

The morale modeling in CMx2 is similar to that of CMx1. The reason? Because it worked so very well we didn't see much reason to change it smile.gif The one HUGE exception to this is making Suppression it's own factor. In CMx1 we tried to simiplify things by having Suppression be an outcome of various factors, not its own factor. This caused us all sorts of headaches, especially with TacAI behavior. Now there is no such problem.

For example, now you can have a unit with very high Morale *and* high Suppression that is reluctant to move for sensible fear of getting shot to pieces. This was not possible in CMx1. It has a profound effect on the "feel" of unit behavior.

That ROCKS!!

It sounds good, but since we can't play and take for a spin right now, to check it out we'll all just have to trust you smile.gif

BUT thanks that suppresion morale model sounds like JUST what the doctor ordered to fix some of the issues with retreat behaviour in CMx1!

How about a little AAR of a beta build battle like the Moon vs. Fion AAR of CMBO fame?
