ParaBellum
I would love to see a possibility in CMx2 to include pictures in briefings. One could use 'aerial recon photos' from within the game engine or even real-world maps to help flesh out this aspect of the game and provide additional information for the player.
Sergei
And I would love to see your turn, Kraut.
Sergei
In addition, I support the motion. Operation Flashpoint allows good briefings. P.S. Kraut!!!
Other Means
I think the ideal solution would be to launch a browser & have them in HTML. Templates could be supplied for the hard of thinking.
Cpl Steiner
IIRC, "Operation Flashpoint" briefings were actually HTML files behind the scenes. These days, XML would also be a good choice.
flamingknives
What's XML and what does it offer that HTML doesn't? I'd prefer HTML, primarily because I can code that.
Sergei
Yep, html. Still, he remains a Kraut and I remain  .

I think the main difference is HTML just describes how info should be presented on a page, whereas XML also describes what the data is.
Other Means
XML defines and holds the data, it's like a name/value pair codified. You then render it via XSLT (think there's other methods). It's about the most inefficient method of data transfer that you could possibly imagine, it also makes no sense without the XSLT & wouldn't allow non technical people to have a stab at it. HTML for me, any day.
Sergei
Duh. From the link I provided: XML is not a replacement for HTML. XML and HTML were designed with different goals: XML was designed to describe data and to focus on what data is. HTML was designed to display data and to focus on how data looks. HTML is about displaying information, while XML is about describing information. Krauts.
