My last NTC rotation was the second Force XXI test and I had a set of Gen IV PVS-7s, a PAQ4B, and a couple guys had the Therman sight for the M16 but it was still experimental. When the guys from the Infantry Battle Lab at Benning showed us the personal Thermal sight it was a nice compact unit but when they issued it to us for NTC it had grown to nearly twice the previous size. ChrisND Posted December 5, 2007 Share Posted December 5, 2007 Yes, I loved the 14. Much clearer, more compact and lighter, and with it being only on one eye, you have the other free for night vision. The big ones you mentioned are probably the version meant for .50 cals and heavy weapons, or it is possible the smaller ones were simply the bigs with the front taken off. That front lens thingie is like half of the weight. As far as thermals, the only people who mounted them were the snipers.
