Sixxkiller
I cannot confirm nor deny his involvement in the JFK conspiracy. I will confirm he wasnt on the grassy knoll.
PeterLorre86
Nobody buys the lone programer theory anymore. You just cant fire off that many patches in that short a time.
Manx
Hey! I once had an email off Charles. thanking me for some work (unpaid) i had been doing to promote CMBO. No matter what you may think of CMSF, the man is a coding legend, and always will be. p.s - CMBB will NEVER leave my hardrive !
Lee
I doubt anyone other than Charles has the necessary thorough knowledge of WWII/more recent weapons, aircraft, tanks, apc's etc., the many armor types and armor penetration factors/calculations, AI, math skills, programming skills, general wargame design, and the highly complex CM simulation design to even work on a game like CM. Add on top of that the level of personal interest in and dedication to the subject matter required to motivate someone to put in the incredible number of hours (within a restricted amount of time to make the game from start to finish) needed to make a wargame of the extreme complexity of CM, and you have *very* few guys that would even make for possible candidates for Steve and Charles to hire to help Charles with the programming. It's a highly specialized combination of God-given talents, acquired knowledge and skills, and very intense interest in the subject that enable Charles to do what he does.
KNac
Yes, candidates in the whole world would be in few numbers... The profile you describe will fit very well in some specialized guys which work for militaries around the world writing sims and wargames. Probably their salary is quite high, and probably BF couldn't aford to hire these right now.
GSX
Hmm, the general gist here is all of the eggs are in the same basket. I hope the basket is up to it.
Guest
Lee, that list is impressive, but the only skills they should need from an extra programmer would be "math" (how quaint), programming, probably some engine design, and maybe some AI. It really depends on what they'd use the extra programmer for. You don't need game design skills or real-world knowledge to do the job of picking up the stuff that Charles doesn't have time for. It's the job of the game designer to provide those things to the programming team. Oh, and of course, they'd need the drive to do it. Replacing Charles would be a whole other bowl of worms. You don't need another Charles to provide more skilled hands to the project, though.
DASman
I second what Lee said. I met Charles many years ago and he impressed me as the most intelligent man I had ever met at the time. He is way smarter than Derrik Smart. John Anderson of CC fame is right up there with him. What Phillip said is also true. E

Battlefront.com
Now that the game engine is complete, it actually wouldn't be too hard to bring on another programmer to do Modules. However, for a month or so Charles wouldn't get much work done due to helping the new guy get familiar with everything. We'd also be fools to have a tight deadline for whatever the guy was working on because this is a big, complicated program to get familiar with. At present time we have no plans to add another programmer to the staff, not even as a contractor. After WWII is out... then we'll see about dividing up the work some. But until then, it's still a one man show. Steve
