I read in a translation of the T72 gun tables that it was absolutely forbidden to drive around with a round 'up the spout', as they say in the west. Too much of a chance - I suppose - of the long gun tube hitting something (like the ground in front of it!) and accidentally discharging the round.

Does anyone know if the 'no chambered round' order was actually followed? If so that would mean the T72 should have a small loading delay once it first encounters a target (not immediate point-&-shoot)

I don't know about Soviet practice, but around here a tank puts its barrel at maximum elevation when it moves with a round up.
