Prinz Eugen
Howdy ! I was just wondering, how large the pbem files can go at best ? I've started only recently a couple of pbem-games, and all are only in the beginning. As a Hotmail user (go go Bill) I've already bumped into problems, since they recently limited the max size of attachments from 1 into .5 Mbs. This has lead into problems in one of those games, since the file grows above the .5 limit. Damnit ! Is there a way to go around this ? Are there any other free email systems you folks use that utilize a larger attachment size ? I'd appereciate the help !
Panzer Leader
zip the files using win-zip or somesuch? Or, change ISP providers to one that has PC-base email, using outlook, outlook express, etc.
86smopuim
yahoo is letting me have 6 megs at a time. you could setup a personal ftp or webserver. Not for the unknowledgable. Other than that, there is not an easy solution.

Redwolf
PBEM files get bigger in mail transfer when you compress them. See http://thforums.com/CMBO/modules.php?op=modload&name=FAQ&file=index&myfaq=yes&id_cat=2&categories=CMBO+FAQ%27s&parent_id=0 I have quite a few 1 MB turns, plus mail wrapping overhead, so accounts with 1 MB limit are insufficient. athkatla
As quoted above, Yahoo gives you 6Mb mail storage free! I use it for PBEM's with no problems

Viceroy
redwolf, IIRC at yahoo it's a 1.5mb limit per/email.I didn't have a problem with yahoo for PBEM, but they don't do POP3 for free anymore.
ParaBellum
The german yahoo (.de) still offers free POP3 service, I'm using it for all my PBEMs and never had any problems with max file size.
L.Tankersley
I have occasionally seen PBEM files reach 2.1MB, but a more common upper limit even for quite large battles (say 5000 pts) is closer to 1 or 1.5 MB.
Wild_Bill
I have a netscape web mail acount. They have a 5Mb of space, and I have yet to reach any size limit on sending or recieving email (other than the 5Mb limit). Wild Bill
