John Kettler
Found this marvel while doing research online www.achtungpanzer.com/newgen.htm Should prove fascinating to buffs of both major sides. Terence
Thanks for posting that link, John. A very interesting read. I was particularly interested to see that Hitler overruled the commander on the scene and ordered the Tigers to engage. How jejune.
John Kettler
Terence, You're welcome! Many more here would find this a good, short read. Has photos and some fascinating quotes from the participants. Regards, John Kettler
Ben Galanti
Guess I'm the only one 'round here with the mindset of a 6 year old, but after that title I half expected john to post "pull my finger"... Ben
Sergei
I can't wait how in CMBB my Tiger is hit frontally but without penetration, which, of course, leads into immobilization. And this, naturally, means that the crew is going to destroy their own tank.
Ben Galanti
Dang it, John changed the title of his post... Ah well, it's still an interesting read. Ben
John Kettler
Ben, I changed it specifically because of the issues you raised...and because thread titles can now be edited by the one who starts them. The new title should resolve the problem you described. Regards, John Kettler
Chad Harrison
I had read this article last week and this was my favorite part: Taken from Achtung Panzer! Website: Otto Carius: "The shell cut the right part of the commander's cupola. I was not beheaded because I had bent down to light my cigarette. Suddenly the Russian assault gun appeared and I gave an order to the gunner to open fire. Kramer shot, and a second shell, from another assault gun, hit in the turret. I can not remember which way I left the Tiger. The head phones-the only thing I have from my destroyed Tiger". Otto was speaking about SU-152/ISU-152's AP shell, which weighed in at 48kg!! The thing that kills me about these tanks, is that the ISU-152 only carries 20 rounds!!! Please allow us to have ammo carriers in the future BTS! Warmaker
It's simple... Just make every shot count! Actually, I'm used to having limited ammo. The Hetzer is a great exercise in that, much less having little HE ammunition. [ August 25, 2002, 03:49 AM: Message edited by: Warmaker ]
M Hofbauer
DAMN, that is a misleading thread title if ever there was one. I was expecting news on how the Leopard2A5/Leopard2A6KWS and the T-80whatever performed ion recent operations, like Kosovo etc. "New generation armor" is something different to me. Farnz
Do you sometimes find there's just not enough time in the day to check out all of Mr Kettlers excellant references.... We thank you.
John Kettler
(Sighs, gnashes teeth loudly and reedits post title) There! Clear enough now? Regards, John Kettler P.S. Were I to write on this board about the modern new generation tanks, that would be OT. Not my style.
