CMBB Air Support

Recommended Posts

Sorry if this has been addressed before on another thread/topic. I realize that the air support in CMBB is not going to be much expanded upon, and is going to be pretty close to what it was in CMBO, but wouldn't it be cool to be able to purchase different types of it? Ruling out any complictaing changes, couldn't a number of generic or specific Luftwaffe and Russian planes be chosen from for support? The only difference between them could be the way that they are armed. For example. . . Stukas and IL2s would have more ordanance than say, an ME109 or Yak, and consequently cost more points. Also. . .wouldn't it be cool that if you purchesed a fighter. . .like an ME109, and your opponent purchased an IL2, that the IL2 would have an increased chance of not showing up at all because it had been chased off/shot down by the ME109? After the battle, trusting that your fighter hadn't been shot down itself, you could view its kills and see an IL2 included. Sorry, again if this has already been discussed, but its just a few things that I was thinking about.

I don't see it as being realistic for ground attack aircraft like the IL-2 to be purchased all by itself. To my knowledge, ground attackers were expensive and valuable to their respective sides, and so were not allowed to fly out without fighter cover much less all alone.

Now, for the larger battles that feature battalions battling it out, large scale air support could be realistically expected. Whole squadroons were regularly employed to support the ground advance.

good point. . .i guess that the latter half of my suggestion, as well as being able to purchase ground-attack planes would only be realistic then in such large scale engagements. . .which I hear might make it to CMBB??? Not that my computer would be able to handle them though. . .hehehehe

Sorry, Matt. As I said, it was probably already touched on. . .thought I'd just make a few suggestions. . .

Perhaps you could direct me to one of the threads, as I seem to be having a hard time finding one.

I am not sure where the threads are but one of the myriad of enhancements in CMBB is more specific planes and loadouts so there ARE things like various versions of IL's (from early IL-2 models all the way up to the IL-10 Beast) with different weapons loadouts and planes like the Hs-129B-3 with that fun for the family 75mm cannon.

Yup... LaGG's, YaKs, Migs, IL's, PE's, Po's, Ju's, PZL's, FW's, ME's, Reg's, Mc's and He's... oh my!

CH FS Pro usb (or good old CH FS even better) and CH Pro pedals are best IMO. Im not very fond of TM stuff(better for modern jets)...too much bells and whistles and less sensitive "feel".

Well but thats all matter of taste.

You may find my 190 here... http://www.wbfree.net

Used a Flightstick Pro ADB for years. Actually I had two of them as after several hundred hours of play, they developed a tendency to snap roll with no input from me. Disconcerting that when you're flying at 25 feet AGL.

Wow! This has been one of my long-time requests on the boards for CM2. But I never

thought we'd get such a vast selection of planes!

This will enable scenario designers to tailor the threat level they want the

air support to represent in a scenario. As well as provide historically accurate

plane types for the time period the scenario covers.

Great job, Charles! As always, you deliver above and beyond expectations. smile.gif

I did contact them and they just replaced the stick. Anyway, I have now given both of them away and it's somebody else's problem. I expect I will like the Cyborg better anyway as it has much more functionality. (Just have my fingers crossed that I don't somehow end up with a lemon.)

Well up until I upgraded to Windows XP I was as happy as a clam with my gameport CH Pro Pedals, Pro Throttle and F-16 Combatstick. Unfortunately CH Products can not get their programming software to support XP so my throttle is now dead in the water. I tried some workaround I saw posted on usenet (booting and programming the devices in DOS) but they didn't work for me.

My options now, Either replace everything with the comperable USB versions which will run me over 300 bucks or just buy the new TH Cougar. I think I will get the Cougar but I will really miss the feel of my old gear as it has behaved flawlessly for years. :(
