Michael Emrys
I think the "hole" in the side of the turret that you are thinking of was called a pistol port, though in practice I suspect it was used much more often for observation than firing through. MikeT
The slot on the turret side is a vision port however right beneath it is a small round plug like object. That is the pistol port. The plug is on a chain and permits reseating the plug. BTW, above and below the number "3" are ladder rungs. MikeT

MikeT the ladder rungs i knew but the pistol port i did not know, i just saw em in the pictures that i saw on the web and i just added the graphics cuz the original bmp did not have the pistol port nor the vision port thnx for the explanation
Chad Harrison
The mod looks great! I often wonder how often in practice the pistol ports were used? I have not noticed them modelled in CMBB, but they were common in nearly all Russian AFV's. Chad
Michael Emrys
Originally posted by Chad Harrison: I often wonder how often in practice the pistol ports were used?Probably not much as I suspect that in action the turret crew was too busy feeding and aiming the main gun to bother with much else. But if they did feel threatened by nearby infantry, I guess they could have poked the muzzle of an SMG out the port and sprayed and prayed. MichaelI thought only marines were taught to do that? What do they call that, the 'Marine Firing Position'?
