MajorVictory
I would love to try my hand at modding, but the price of a full Photoshop suite is beyond me at the moment. Does anyone know if the lower priced version "Elements" contains the necessary tools to make mods? Thanx in advance for your advice.
WWB
I don't know about elements, but Corel Photo Paint is just about as full-featured as Photoshop, and sells for $90. WWB
mike8g
As long as you're familiar with it, almost every paint program will do it. IIRC, one mod-maker did even use MS Paint
gunnergoz
PaintshopPro 7 is what I use (along with Photoimpact) and it works fine. What's more, you can download demos of both and try them out for free. Highly recommended.
Mord
Elements is what I had read a review on about a month ago. They said it is the best Non full version of Abobe Photoshop ever put out. That it has all the best features plus some excllent tutorials. It is as close to the full version as your gonna find. It was a really good review and had me pysched. I am still using Adobe2.0 SE for photo manipulation and that works fine. But I think you'd be just fine using a Elements or any other halfed version to mod with. I'd say get Elements the price is decent and it sounds great. I know I am gonna. Mord
Berlichtingen
I'm a long time Photoshop user (version 1.0... its around here somewhere on a single floppy). I took a look at the Elements demo, and it looks great
Gyrene
Photoshop Elements is basically Photoshop 5.5 without Channels and 4 color (CMYK) support. It's definitively worth the money. Gyrene
Eric Young
You can aslo download Photoshop LE, it will work just fine. E
PawBroon
You can do great things with Channels. Go try PSP and PI as they are TrialWare and see if they suit your needs. If not go for Elements. As a side note, in many comp magazine, they tend to offer free full previous version. Check if you can't order an old copy of one with 5.5 or 5 since they are about to release 7...
