Harper88
What determines the actual ending turn when a game length is listed as a number with a + sign?
David I
From what I can observe it is determined by whoever is my opponent of the momment. If he needs five more turns to reach an objective, he gets it. If he needs the game to end immediately in order to keep me away from an objective, it ends. Thats my theory and I'm sticking to it. MikeyD
I think (its been a long time since I went over this) the + kicks in if a flag has changed hands within 5 turns of the final minute. Then a 'random' number of extra turns are tacked on so nobody wins a game by gamey suicidal flag rush. In my experience 'random' usually means 10.
Pzman
Most of the games I play with + turns are between two and five, so its hard to say one way or another.
Beta1
that said I have seen 30+ games reach turn 40. Usually when I'm defending and down to my last bullet.
slysniper
I read on this forum at a earlier post that this is affected by combat, if there is firefights in progress it normally will continue to add turns until the combat somewhat stops, since then I have used that thought, if I am wanting less extra turns and I can break contact with the enemy, normally the game will end in about 2 turns. So it seems to work but I have not tested this out, just have tried the advice.
Peregrine
I just had a 33+ quick battle stretch to 41. I needed it to go to 45 to clean up. Minor defeat (44%/56%) instead.
Green Hornet
I'm not convinced the variable ending feature has anything to do with flag possession at any point in the battles. Personally, I'm convinced a random number of turns is simply stuck on the end and you get what you get. Try playing a 20+ turn attack/defend QB as a test. As attacker, you can let all your units remain stationary for 20 turns, not a single shot will be fired and no flags ever change hands yet the game will still give you extended turns. I just tried it (again) and my 20+ QB test lasted 22 turns. Like I said, I'm convinced it's completely random.
