  1. One of the biggest problems I have in utilizing armor is in forested terrain where the vehicles are channelized onto roads and the defenders have lots of places to hide. This is particularly exacerbated where the off-road terrain is soft, such as the battles fought in the Hurtgen Forest. What are the general guidelines for deploying and fighting armor in such terrain? [ May 24, 2006, 06:02 PM: Message edited by: Harper88 ]
  2. Being too often surprised by unexpected developments. No matter how much I try to anticipate the unanticipated, it routinely jumps up and bites me in the butt. In battles where my armor is numerically superior but technically inferior (Tiger v. Sherman, for example), the inability to bring about multiple simultaneous axes of attack, resulting in getting popped off one by one.
  3. Kingfish, I can't answer your question directly, but you might try contacting the 352nd Infantry Division re-enactors. Here's their website: http://www.352nd.com/ and their email is m.mdunn@verizon.net. Good luck.
  4. Is there available a re-creation of the battle commanded by Captain Dick Winters where the 101st Airborne destroyed several German artillery pieces behind the beaches on D-Day?
  5. I really enjoyed this one. Limited maneuver room, limited LOS and fanatical Germans. I was able to get control of both flags early and forced the German AI to come to me. Using a flamethrower (first time I've ever gotten to use one) was a hoot. I came away with a Major Victory 78%/22%, the Germans had two men left and I had 61.
  6. Can any of you recommend any battles for CMBB that take place in Stalingrad that are Tiny, Small or Medium?
  7. If you like The Last Battle, Let me recommend John Toland's The Last 100 Days. And if you're interested in a similar book on the end of the war in the Pacific, Richard B. Frank's Downfall is also excellent.
  8. What determines the actual ending turn when a game length is listed as a number with a + sign?
  9. I concur with jacobs_ladder2 on Clark's "Barbarossa" although it didn't have the detail I was hoping for. Erickson's 2-volumes are highly detailed. I'm halfway through the first volume and will go right on to the second volume.
  10. What are the guidelines/tactics for dismounting mounted infantry? In other words, when I have infantry riding aboard halftracks, trucks, jeeps, what are the general guidelines about where and when they should be dismounted?
