Hello all...

Gidday guys ive just ordered CMAK just the other day and it should hopefully arrive in a few days (kiwi here) but im worried that i may have a few dissapointments in store from what ive read here (or have not read) as i ordered CMAK because it was the latest game put out by the combat mission team i figured i would have pretty much all availiable vehicles ect to date in every theatre,i was going too order the bundle pack as im a russian front fan also but figured i would have the full selection of vehicles for all the "what if" senarios my little heart desired, (say the russians attacked thru turkey down into northern africa, totally ridiculous but something i should be able too recreate).

If this is indeed not the case then can i add vehicles too my selection list thru "mods" posted perhaps?,if this is not the case i may sadly have too return my product as my expectations are that of a gamer that expects an editor too have evrything i needed for WWII senarios.

You are going too be disappointed. Battlefront prides themselves on the historical accuracy of their games, thus no "what if" scenarios of the type you describe. CMAK features the units that would be found in the North African/Mediterranean theaters. You can roughly simulate Western Front combat as most of the vehicles that were present there are also in CMAK and the terrain is close enough. CM mods are only graphic modifications; you can't add vehicles or change the performance of units.

That said, the CM series is the best tactical WWII simulation ever made for the computer. Give it a chance and you will be hooked.

Hey thnx for the quick replys guys, the reason for part of the thread i posted above is that i would like too make a few western front scenarios (battle of the bulge,D-day ect) and just woundering whether i can accurately depect these battles..hmmm are the kingtiger, yagtiger incl at all? could you give me some idea of what late war vehicles i can expect too be able too feild here.

Thnx for the welcome too Gen Colt, and from the demo i have played and the fact that i played tabletop battles since i was 12yrs old (im now 38) i feel you will probably be correct in assuming most of my free time will be taken up until the team at battlefront come up with a newer engine, looking forward too some online games with you chaps too as looks like a great crowd here.

Im still a little dissapointed that the CMAK team did not look at the game for what it is and include material for scenario developers that had a wider range of tastes for just the southern theater, perhaps this could be fixed at a later date perhaps too include a patch with availiable units for such an occasion, looking forward too more conversation about this topic.

No King Tigers, and there should not have been. If you want King Tigers, get CMBO or CMBB. It is a Theater set game, so Africa and Italy. If you want late war western Europe, with proper units get CMBO, even if it is a little aged. From what we have heard there are no plans to add new AFV's to the game, and other than giving units in the game that don't already have their own model, they shouldn't.

Great too hear that there are guys working on this Seanachai,i hoped there would be,could you supply the rest of your message as seems it was cut short, though will look for "Der Kessel",cheers.

Panzerman you seemed sure that they should not have added the extra units?i see that you promote "The Senario Zone" yet don't approve of something that would enhance senario developers or that it would change the game at all for you anyway im guessing as the extra theatre units i was hoping would be there would be only too enhance what options there were for a mapper too make scenarios for those who did wish too try something different.

BFC had to limit the number of units due to the constraints of the space on a single CD. The units you mentioned weren't significant factors in the Crete/Africa/Sicily/Italy theaters. That's why they're not in the game. That's also why there are no WW2 Japanese tanks or 1960's Israeli tanks or current American tanks.

While it would probably be fun to have every AFV ever built available for what-if scenarios, that's not the game BFC wanted to make. With the rarity factors built in, the CM game puts you in the position of a commander making do with units which aren't the uber-tanks of a video game. Amazing as it may seem to many, not every German tank in WW2 was a King Tiger!! They were so rare that I'd guess that many German soldiers never even saw a King Tiger, at least not in combat. There were even fewer JagdTigers. The web sites I saw said that only 485 King Tigers and 85 JagdTigers were built. They couldn't be everywhere.

Yes it may help with some scenarios, but at the cost of adding units that never saw action in Italy or Africa, which I feel would be the wrong decision. As a scenario designer I don't feel that BFC cheated me in any way by not adding ahistorical units. BFC states time and time again that they want to create games that are as realistic as they can, by leaving out KingTigers and other units that did not see action in the Med, they have done just that.

You really should have gotten Barbarossa to Berlin. I don't know if you can send CMAK back or whatever, but if the Eastern Front is you're thing then CMBB is the way to go. CMBB is also my personal favorite of the series since I'm into the Eastern Front myself. But it's really just a matter of taste. You seem like a CMBB man to me.
