Andreas
Hans I am sure the archives are brimming with all the data you could possibly want. But you are right, it just won't do. What were the 21. ID and 1.PD thinking, not being at Amiens?! I am currently awaiting a 1941 publication from the Kriegswissenschaftliche Abteilung of the Generalstab des Heeres, with combat vignettes from the war in 1940. If it contains anything on Amiens, I get back to you. Thanks for the restaurant recommendations!
Andreas
This is a picture I took of the diorama of the battle of Midtskogen when I visited the Norwegian Army Museum at Akershus last year. Thanks to Dandelion for reminding me that you looked for this Hans. All the best Andreas
John Kettler
Hans, Here's a U.S. Air Force Air Command and Staff School paper on the invasion of Norway, providing a useful overview of the campaign. Spiller's mentioned by name in a footnote at the bottom of page 37. https://research.au.af.mil/papers/ay1997/acsc/97-0146A.pdf Issue 21.4 of the JOURNAL OF STRATEGIC STUDIES has an article on the Norway invasion, but I don't know how to get the actual article text. http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/archive/fjss-abs.asp Here's one on forcible entry and the Norway invasion you shouldn't have any trouble getting. http://cgsc.cdmhost.com/cdm4/item_viewer.php?CISOROOT=/p4013coll2&CISOPTR=450&REC=20 Norway during WW II. http://www.nuav.net/articles.html Norway 1940 Big site devoted to Norway invasion from a Norwegian perspective. Hans
Thanks for the information I put that little action in the reserve pile for 'insufficient information'. Interestingly I wrote to a number of Norwegian history professors and museums and was never able to obtain a map of the action - or its exact location - despite finding a small hotel located near the site. At some point I must try again - your notes have been added to the file!
