Doodlebug
What's the correct spelling? Is it fallsch-irm-jager or fallsch-rim-jager? Both spellings seem equally common in usage and I wondered which is accurate.

Berlichtingen
Actually, it is Fallschirmjäger, although I believe Fallschirmjaeger is the accepted English spelling
wbs
From Berlichtingen: Actually, it is Fallschirmjäger, although I believe Fallschirmjaeger is the accepted English spelling I don't have the keyboard to type it the way you did in your first example. I've never seen it spelled the way you did in your second example, but I am not surprised to hear that some people do spell it that way.
Jaws
Just use fist the " key and then the a key and what you will get is ä. So you don't need another keyboard.

Brightblade
Originally posted by Patrick Moore: My german knowledge is one notch below nil! Is that why Göring is often spelt Goering? Exactly. The German "Umlaute" ("Ä", "Ö" and "Ü") can be spelt with an "E" instead of the two points, so "ae" = "ä", "oe" = "ö" and "ue" = "ü". However, some family names are always spelt with "ae", "oe" or "ue". Some rather sensitive people consider it an insult when their family name isn´t spelt correctly. Amedeo
Yes, you may spell the vowels with Umlaut (i.e. metaphony, it's word that indicates a phonetical phenomenon but also the symbol that "represents" it) also with an "e" after the vowel. In fact the origin of the " symbol was the stylization of a little 'e' that was superimposed to the letter. Regards, Amedeo
Jussi Köhler
Ok. What about the swedish Å then? They were a major part of WW2 you know. This has to be adressed in the game Ok,ok, dont take me too seriously. I know one or two swedes that are pretty ok after all... Its just that they smell so much of Lutfisk...
