japinard
Hi everyone. It's bene a long time since I've been here, and I'm re-ready to delve back into CM2. Question is: What are some of the "must-have" mods I should get? Thanks, and I'd appreciate this not nose-dive into a Soddball drunken orgy.
atiff
As a quick answer, I'd say go to www.cmmods.com and just look at their "Top Downloads" list. [ July 14, 2003, 02:39 AM: Message edited by: atiff ]
Col Deadmarsh
Is that the only mod site there is? It would be nice to see what I'm downloading before I download it...
Elmar Bijlsma
You might want to click on the date of the mod not on the filename. You then get some info and a screenshot. There are loads of mod sites but www.cmmods.com is THE mod site.
tooz
I'll agree with Tweety here, CMMODDatabase is THE site. What I suggest is just to see what units are in your current scenario which you are playing. If you like how they look, fine. If not, head for the base and "mod to taste". There is a true "embarrassment of riches". And, the really good news is that great mods just keep on pouring in.
japinard
Excellent. Thanks!
Warmaker
CMMODS is the site to go to for CMBB stuff but I haven't tried seeingg the selection for CMBO there. If you want CMBO mods CMHQ still has a huge selection over there with quality work.
Juju
Hi, Japinard. Welcome back. The problem with the top download list is that some of the newest great mods are simply not yet in the ,say, top 30. Apart from just looking at the list, note the names of modders who score high. Basically, if you ask my personal opinion, you can download and install anything from TanksAlot, AndrewTF, MikeyD (now why isn't he yet in the top twenty, huh?) Gordon Molek, Makjager and Panzermartin without hesitation cos it will be GOOD! I'd include myself, if I weren't so modest. (Edited to add another great modder) [ July 14, 2003, 11:24 PM: Message edited by: Juju ]

I don't know if you remember me e-mailing you accoades about your factory mod, but I just saw your wooden fence mod, and am like "YEEEHAAAAAAA"!!!! Love your work and intense attention to detail!

Steppe Butcher
Of all the mods I've downloaded, the only absolutely essential one is the gridded terrain set. It drapes a faint 20-metre square grid over the map to allow instantaneous judging of perspective/contours/ranges. (Oh and you might also like to use the "Transparent Ruins" mod to be able to see infantry amid collapsed rubble)
splooger
The one thing I wish was modable in this game is the AI. I could really care less about other mods, since the quality of the single-player game suffers so much from mediocre AI.
Gyrene
Whatever you do, you must make sure that you have a good set of railroad tracks! Rumor is, that there's a really nifty RR mod out there somewhere.... Gyrene
