Strategic Command v1.07 Patch Officially Released!

Recommended Posts

The game (v1.07) features a complete graphics overhaul (interface, map and units) as well as a number of unit and terrain mods on CD. It is now available from all major European retailers for a recommended retail price of EUR 29.99, as well as directly from www.mostwantedgames.com.

The german version of the game had some features we didn't have. Does the official 1.07 patch include the above mentioned items?

Thanks for the patch. Hope things go well on SC2.

The new map graphics are really nice. The new resource and terrain sprites are also pretty cool. If you've noticed, the various pictures in the Strategy Guide use the new map graphics but I chose to keep the original sprites since they seem to look better to me. That's a personal preference, and folks will have to make their own decisions about mixing and matching stuff when the graphics package comes out. Ditto for using unit sprite mods. There's a lot of good stuff out there, to use as is or to mod further on your own.

One question about the new package. Will it also contain the French and German language interfaces so players can try them? Play SC and learn a foreign language at the same time. Ausgezeichnet! :D

Hubert: The graphics package from the retail release is not yet available for download via Battlefront but should be ready sometime in the near future.

Oak: Can you qualify "near future"? Days? Weeks? Months?

More like "weeks". We're preparing an english version for the updated graphics currently, as so far we only got the german (and very soon french) versions done for the respective retail releases through Most Wanted Games. As soon as the english versions are ready, we'll make them available for download, around the same time of a UK retail release of SC (which will be announced officially very soon) - or shortly after.

Hello,

I played the german demo of this game: it's great! I still remember the good old "Storm across Europe" or "Crusade in Europe" when I play your game. I love this kind of strategic turn based games. smile.gif

Well, one question remains before I buy it: does the official patch 1.07 also work with the german version?

I think I should be able to install it manually, since there are only two important files for me:

sc.exe

capital.wav

The rest of the german version seems to be already up to date, meaning the beta patch of 07.04.2003 is already installed. Can I replace the german SC.exe with your patched SC.exe?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Frank!

Glad to hear you enjoyed the German demo of Strategic Command smile.gif To answer your question, there is no need to do anything else with the retail German version of Strategic Command as it is already at v1.07.

The official patch v1.07 via Battlefront was only to bring the US Battlefront version of the game up to date with the retail German version available in stores.

Hope this helps,

Hubert

Thanks for the patch Hubert.

Here is the list for anyone else who is on dial-up like me:

Changes Made For v1.07 (June 24, 2003)

fixed Vichy France surrender issue after Paris falls

fixed rare port control issue after the surrender of a country

fixed DirectX compatibility bug with newer Video Card drivers, newer drivers didn't like the previous implementation of DirectX within SC, caused some flickering/blackouts when traversing through various game screens/menus

fixed Carrier intercept bug, defensive bonuses no longer affect losses

fixed country surrender bug that would not recognize enemy unit control of resources like ports etc., i.e. should remain in enemy control instead of automatically being assigned to conqueror (as noticed by allied players after the fall of France)

fixed sub spotting bug during AI and TCP/IP games

fixed MPP bug for USA and Italy when they are declared war upon, previous bidding would be overwritten

fixed strength of Soviet Shaumyan Cruiser for Barbarossa, corrected to start at 10

Yugoslavian Coup now has a greater link to Axis actions taken against Greece, can still happen if Greece not invaded but less likely

US interest in war tweaked to also take into greater account attacks on Portugal and Iraq on top of the previous settings for Vichy, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland

Spain tweaked to react to an Allied invasion of Portugal, may now join Axis

slightly higher disinterest for US war entry when Allies attack neutral minors

changed income for minors once either Germany or UK fall, minors will still collect for any remaining resources available

added a 2 city supply system for the UK (London and Manchester) similar to 3 city supply system added in v1.06 for the USSR, counters gamey cutoff of London during Sea Lion

There are also errata listed. I'm not sure if those are additional changes, or just clarifications to the game manual for things changed in the past, but I found the errata very informative, especially the part about daisy chaining friendly HQs.

BTW, does anyone know if it is possible to use the Suez to S. Atlantic mode from the Suez back out?
