The Indian army doesn't/ didn't use officers to command platoons, but VCO (Viceroy Commissioned Officers) So, starting from the bottom, for infantry units. Section leader = Halvidar Platoon leader = Jemadar Company leader (if VCO) = Subadar Of course, the cavalry is different again , with Risaldars and Daffadars replacing Subadar and Halvidar respectively. Just won't be the same if Gardner's Horse and Rajputana Rifles have sergeants and lieutenants... Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
