Maximus
I just installed my SB Live! last night and I'm wondering which EAX setting is best for CM. So far, "Forest" seems to be the closest to what it should sound like. I've tried several others and nothing seems right. ------------------ Finally........Maximus...has come back.....to the Forum!!! pathfinder
hmmm, hadn't thought of checking it out... I have a Live! value and will let ya know what my impressions are. ------------------ unca pathy will show ya the path, if only he could find it himself! Mikester
I admit my sound card stupidity. How do I adjust these settings on my SB Live Value card? Thanks in advance guys. Mikester out.
pathfinder
use the creative launcher.... then look in the environments tab(?)... ------------------ unca pathy will show ya the path, if only he could find it himself!
krm
I have mine set to forest. It seems the most appropriate for me as a setting called "death, destruction and chirping birds" seems to be missing ------------------ I'm always in the ****, it's only the depth that varies. Tyro
I'll give forest a try, I had mine on generic and it still sounded good. BOOM!!!!
pathfinder
hehe, I found mountain to suit me best.. but try "drugged" in the middle of an arty barrage...uh...different to say the least! ------------------ unca pathy will show ya the path, if only he could find it himself! TeAcH
Well, this post begs the question "Is or will EAX be directly supported in CM 1.1 or CM2...?" TeAcH
oddball
>>I just installed my SB Live! last night >>and I'm wondering which EAX setting is >>best for CM. Maximus, I had to thank you for posting this, man. I've had a SB Live for six months now and never bothered dinkin' with that "Environments" option. Having had my interest piqued with your post I farted with it some and it's awesome!! Just for S&Gs I set mine to "Psychotic". ISYN, I had to shut it off after two minutes because it was seriously weirdin' me out. The in-game sound effects were manipulated such that it was like listening to the soundtrack from a nightmare. I'm goin' back in, this is too cool not to exploit further. <ggggggggg> Regards, Oddball
guachi
I play with forest or no effects. Also, crank up the amount of simultaneous wave playbacks to max (32) Although it can be quite entertaining to set it on some of the more exotic effects (drugged, psychotic, SO4, etc.) Jason ------------------ Betas available to everyone are just publicity stunts anyways. -FK
Guest Madmatt
Although it could be considered Blasphemous there is a pre-defined sound set for use with Close Combat that I used to use. Its somewhere buried in the 3D Games folder and you have to install it IIRC, but it uses the fields or forest preset with just the right amount of reverb and echo to sound like outside. Very nice effect... Madmatt ------------------ If it's in Combat Mission, it's on Combat Mission HQ! CoolColJ
EAX is pretty lame, its basicly another name for reverb I dunno makes everything sound muddy to me, all the sounds in CM already have reverb, don't need to add anymore. ccj
