Aragorn2002
Some time ago I changed to Windows 11. I've recently noticed that all my BRZ files have changed into Window Media Player files. Haven't got a clue how or why. Please advise, anyone.
Vacillator
Hmmm, Win 11 here as well Jacob. My BRZs identify as BRZs . Is there a remote possibility you've somehow inadvertently associated BRZ files with Windows Media Player? Perhaps more importantly I imagine this isn't breaking your games? Edited September 7 by Vacillator Sorry, couldn't help it.
OldSarge
I just checked the BRZ files on my system and they show up simply as BRZ files. There isn't an easy way to break an association. The way that I have done it before is a bit tedious, but it works. You create a fake EXE file, in the properties of a BRZ file you select the 'Change' button of the 'Opens with' field, then select the fake EXE as the default app. Then you delete the fake EXE breaking the association. Disclaimer, I've done this on Win10 but haven't had to do it on Win11 yet. In W10, there is a checkbox for 'Always use this app'. The checkbox isn't there in W11.
chuckdyke
IMHO it is because BRZ files are rare or out of date. Possibly the only way to read them is by Windows media files. Personally, I wait till all the hiccups have been sorted till I migrate my games. By the way I can't migrate to Slitherine only to Steam why? I don't know.
Andrew Kulin
I think it is what Vacillator said. I have Windows 11 and this has never happened

It's possible, Tim, but I can't imagine how. And fortunately it isn't breaking my games, so no harm done, I think.

But as Tim said, main thing is it keeps on working.
