Shinglhed
Is this game where you can build your own scenarios that can be played by TWO players (not AI)? I know you cannot do this in games like Ogre or Panzer General but perhaps there is one out there where you can?
Heirloom_Tomato
@Shinglhed Absolutely. Every single scenario included with the game can be played either single player against the AI OR with a human opponent. Your options against a human include the ever popular PBEM, play by email, or the automated PBEM+ system, where the game sends the turns for you. There are also Hot Seat, LAN and Internet options available if you prefer. Many, if not most, of the members here would agree, while playing CM against the AI is fun, playing against a live opponent lets the game truly shine.
Ultradave
And, 1) you can make your own - select a map, or make your own map, and select all the forces to create the scenario. This is somewhat labor intensive (especially the map making) Or 2) the quick and easy way, select PBEM Quick Battle, where you can select a type of battle, type of terrain, size of map and forces, date, weather, and what type of force (like all infantry, mix, all armor, etc), and nationalities. These are much better than QB agains the AI, which can tend to generate some "interesting" AI force structures. Better than it used to be, but that's a low bar This way is probably better for a competitive game because you won't know what your opponent has for forces. And you can select whether you both get to preview the map, or just be pleasantly or unpleasantly surprised. I usually go for the preview, thinking that in real life, you'd have a decent idea of what's in front of you, from observation and maps. #1 is best for recreating a historical battle you have good information about. #2 is best for a good even game against your buddy, semi-historical or whatever you choose, and can be thrown together pretty quickly. While this is generally true, in fact some scenarios are finely tune for a well balanced play of one side against the AI, and hence are not interesting to play H2H. This is why theblitz database is of great interest!
StieliAlpha
It should be said, that the scenarios are „one vs one“ only. There is no option for COOP games with several players playing on the same side. Edited June 9 by StieliAlpha
